Comment:

Lots of reading and writing. 3 midterms and no final. Weekly discussions are easy, but essays are really tough. No extra credit, and no late work allowed. The textbook is sometimes hard to follow, Whitney Chadwick Women, Art, and Society 5th Ed. Reid is nice but a really tough grader. Midterms are multiple-choice, quoted directly from thetextbook.

Very tough grader. Wants you to write paragraphs and paragraphs about simple artwork. Does not provide a clear framework for responses, then takes a bunch of points off for not submitting a response on par of her expectations. Would not recommend

It is an art class but her way of grading it as an English class with more emphasis on citation and grammar. Feedback on art topic basically zero, just mentioned that you need to include more detail, write a full five paragraph essay and told you read the previous comment again. What is her thought of the art question itself? No clue.

Her grading of my first two assignments in her women class were savage, and I had to work extra hard to meet her expectations. However, after the class I feel like I did get better at writing (or at least not dreading it as much as I used to). Significant amount of reading. Prof might not read your assignment properly before grading them.

Get ready to read and write a lot, as there are weekly essays! Besides that, the only other work is the corresponding discussion (these are all due at the end of each month). She gets back to you SO FAST and her feedback is always clear and concise---make sure to fix/improve anything she asks of you in your next essay to get a better score!

Long weekly essays with a dense but very interesting text. Choice between two exams/museum paper. Get ready to WRITE on specific topics. Only learning process emphasized in the online class. Does not take advantage of the numerous online resources available. Needs updating. It's a read and write course. Too bad. Take the campus one! Great topic!

I would not recommend this class if you aren't good with english. Even though it's an art class, she believes that she is qualified to grade you based on your grammar and english. It's ridiculous how she grades and the textbook she uses is all over the place.

Weekly essay-style responses to lecture questions required. The professor is a bit of a stickler and a tough grader. If you don't read the 80 plus pages required per chapter you will have a hard time participating in class discussions. Take the class pass no pass if you can.

Great teacher. She's strict but if you get over that you'll do great. Her deadlines are hard (meaning there are NO exceptions). There are 10 essays on different artists, discussion questions and responses and then three 20pt tests. She's not a hard grader, so if you do the work you should be able to get an A.

Clear, straightforward, and fair. 3 tests, 10 mini-essays, 1 final essay. She provides great feedback on essays. There is more work here than others would allow, but I found that she made modern Art very interesting if you made an effort. Great teacher and highly recommended.

Write a short 1/2 page essay every week about an artist. Then take 2 short tests. That's all. Easy A. Would highly recommend a textbook, most test questions are directly from there. After this course, I've actually become very interested in art, from thinking art was pointless.

I enjoy art but what she taught is a joke. Shes also not willing to compromise, turned in a assignment 5 minutes late on accident and she wouldn't give any credit (lost %5 of my grade over it) I would avoid this teacher.

Fun and interesting class, not hard at all. 10 mini essay questions, 3 open book exams, and 1 museum paper. It took me a while to figure out what she was looking for in the essays, but once I did it, I got 10s, and they became pretty addicting. Good and easy online class to take.

The textbook we used was thick but was a very good read.I actually kept the book! Professor Reid was very engaging in her comments on my essay assignments. Her comments were also very helpful too. Deadlines are strict so be sure to submit required work before the due date. Overall, Prof Reid was very a very good professor.

Took online. Helpful/ nice teacher. Easy A & you learn a lot. Read & incorporate her assignment comments, they will help you out a lot. I was not interested in modern art at all, didnt understand it and didnt care to, but needed the class. Easily passed with a high A. 1 weekly video assignment, 3-5 disc. due at end of each month. 3 online tests.
