He really knows a lot about his field but he is way out of touch with technology and communication. He doesn't explain his thoughts well and still expects you to understand. The project is the hardest thing I've done in my whole time at OSU.

Tough class with a final project worth a big portion of your grade that you need to start working on early if you want to do well. Go through his past exams and be sure to read the textbook to do well on the tricky multiple choice questions. Overall I am glad that I don't have to take another class with him. It was tough and took alot of effort.

Schultz 's highway location and design class is not easy and you need to work for your grade. But his exams are fair, and he is extremely helpful at office hours with questions. Overall it was a difficult class with a lot of work but I still think he is a good professor.

Schultz is a class act through and through. He didn't "baby sit" students. He expected students to do their work. His real life experience was his foundation. When taking on a problem (as he always said), "Draw a picture" is excellent advise to take into your career.

Schultz has been teaching surveying forever. That being said, one of the worst teachers I have had. The only reason I did well was because of our lab TA. The notes are old and barely legible. Homework was out of the worst text book you will own. Three tests , all which are difficult. It takes a lot of work to succeed.

Be prepared to teach yourself, you'll learn nothing from his lectures. The first day of class I was told by the TA that I should be prepared to guess on at least five (of 50) questions on the exams no matter how much I study; mainly due to the obscure facts you're responsible for memorizing which are handed out on type-written notes from the 60's.

Bob is tough and demanding. Show some effort, do the homework and study from the notes he gives out every week and you'll pass. The final project is a pain in the arse. Yet find a few study buddies and work together. Way heavier and more in-depth than I would have thought. Labs and field books are keys to passing this class. He is still at OSU!

If you have any interest in Surveying, this class will tear it out of you. A professor that's way past his prime. He knows his stuff, there is no questioning that, but if one is to be a professor they have to be good at relaying that knowledge. By far the WORST professor I've ever had. I would have rather walked across hot coals.

Bob is a tough teacher, but he is a very nice guy and very helpful if you approach him outside of class AND ARE RESPECTFUL. Some kids resent his teaching style, and automatically decide to dislike him and the class and don't hide their dislike when speaking with him (thus learning nothing). It's only as hard as you make it.

Surveying shouldn't be this hard. The problem is that he tries to trick you on tests. Make sure and study off of past exams and handouts. Oh ya, Schultz knows his stuff; if all information involving surveying was lost, this guy could reproduce it in one night.

By far the worst teacher I have EVER had at OSU. He really knows his stuff but hes a terribly teacher. Extremely stubborn old man. Does not teach you anything, he just stands there blabbing in a mono-tone jersey accent sounding pissed off. He told half the class to quite the CEM program after the first test.Study the past tests practically identica

There are a number of professors who have had Dr. Schultz as a professor when they went to school. The best advice for his class is to find someone with access to past exams. He hardly even changes the order of the questions, just the numbers in the problem statements.

Schultz knows his stuff, he's been doing this forever. He is very particular about the way things need to be done, so don't question him. read all the handouts because no matter how obscure if it's in one of them it's fair game on the tests. If you get a chance to talk to him he's pretty awesome and has great stories.

the man is a machine. his lecture is very very very lengthy. the handouts are very important, basically all information you need for the exams is in them. he will ask the most obscure stuff so know everything. you will learn alot about surveying but be careful on exam questions he likes to trick you with wording and significant figures

There's little point writing anything here about Schultz. EVERY CE student at OSU in the past 30-40 years has had this guy for surveying. I hated his class (some people like him though). Odds are you'll hate surveying, regardless of how you feel about this old semi-militant man. By the way "alfur" means "alpha".

Pretty hard class. He knows his stuff, but the material is fairly hard and so are his tests. Plan on spending time outside of class to redo/finish the labs and the HW takes a while too. Overall, not a bad class, I liked it, but definitely wasn't the easiest class ever.
