Comment:
Mr. Sprague class was okay. He can be really confusing in terms of what exactly he wants for your papers. Also, he takes some time to respond to emails regarding questions you may have for him. Sometimes his comments are confusing and you are left thinking " wait, what is he talking about". Overall it was eh.

You build a paper based on the idea of the American dream in the context of the novel The Great Gatsby. It's a profound experience and prepared me for my college career.

When you mention English, I cringe. The thought of having to analyze and use critical thinking just made me tensed. After taking, and passing with an A, his course, I can clearly say that I am ready for University English.

he is a little unorganized and seems to have a lot going on outside class because he takes a long time to grade things and he can be very confusing. but the class teaches you how to write a paper for sure. his comments can be harsh but honest and helpful.

Reviews are out of whack. Syllabus is two pages, not 45. Evaluation is clear. Overall direction clear too. Texts are online.

Loved his online Eng 101 class - interpreting The Great Gatsby. 4 papers due with exceeding length. The modules are extensive; it's helpful to use high-lighter to mark important parts and get desired structure. Would recommend!

Comment:
The Syllabus he uses is too long with misspellings and repeats itself if you read it all. A lot of the pages have nothing to do with the class. Not very helpful. Disorganized, and it seems he does things on purpose. His way of getting people to drop? The good reviews here are not real. Reminds me of Yelp and BBB.

I would not recommend anyone taking his course online. His syllabus does not provide a clear explanation of the course and expectations (his syllabus is long, 45 pages and I never seen this from any professors). He teaches his entire course on the Great Gatsby. He is not great at following up with you when it comes to asking questions.

After the 2nd week all went downhill. I would send professor Sprague pm's and he would respond sometime to not at all. Assignment are very clear, just too much. Writing a paper ok, but an outline too..Jeeez. Once he accused me of plagiarism, and spelled plagiarize along with a few other words wrong, but he's an English teacher.

Took his onine course. He checked in every 4 or 5 days if that. Is not helpful at all. There is no learning in this class. You either already know it or you fail never experinced anything like this before.

Sprague's online course handling was HORRIBLE. Other teachers set it up to allow attachments. Sprague forces inline submissions that eliminate paper formating and combines words that must be corrected. He has an attitude.

I took Professor Sprague's class online for the fall 2010 semester. He was available online and via private message if needed. This is not a class procrastinators!! Does not require daily class communication. Big +!! I would enroll in another class taught by this professor.

I was looking forward to this class until I took this class. Professor Sprague either has a lot of personal issues going on or he just doesn't care. His expectations were vague & unclear and his demeanor shows that he has lost interest. Time to retire!
