Comment:

This man no longer cares about teaching, just receiving a paycheck and having something to do during the week. He is disorganized, prone to massive mood swings and has no idea what being an "educator" means. Ganesan - "Give me U of I students, MIT students, I'll make them feel as dumb as you do right now. I'll make them cry."

simply awful.. he has all these bad ratings for a reason, so avoid him if at all possible. Does not explain material well, glosses over important concepts, is unclear in what will be on tests. Admits he confuses people, but doesn't care. Worst teacher I've ever had.

Ganesan is lazy and indifferent with regards to whether or not students understand the material. He just doesn't care to teach at all. He speeds through material leaving everyone confused, and then claims the concepts are "easy" as an apparent excuse for not taking time to be thorough. Lectures are convoluted and useless.

I've gotten three B's in my college career. I am hoping that I pass the classes I have with Ganesan right now. He is by far the worst teacher I've had. He's unorganized, uninterested, and lazy. He doesn't show up to his office hours. I'm not sure why someone who doesn't show up to their job still has one. I'm ashamed I'm in the same school as him.

Ganesan knows his stuff but he doesn't realize the students don't. Never uses textbook. If you can't learn on your own, good luck! Tests are unrelated to work and are unreadable. If he knows you, you can do well in the class. TA are worthless!!

He knows his stuff. However, to get a B or A you must know your stuff at least half as well as he does. Many tests most people didn't finish, when I took him, despite them being similar problems to what we'd seen as examples. Something about his tests comes off as intimidating.

If you cannot make it in Ganesan's class then you probably do not belong in engineering. Do what you KNOW is expected of you, come to class, paticipate in class, turn in homework (on time) etc. and you will do just fine. If Gansan knows you (for good things not bad), you should have no problems with an A or B.

Let me just say this - I've been attended 4 colleges (including high school commuter courses), and taken over 100 credit hours, and I can honestly say this is THE WORST, unorganized, arrogant, teaching-inept supposed "professor" I've ever met; I only audited the class, just to see how bad he got - and he redefined failure on every level. Avoid him.

ok, only take ganesan if you have takin him before... because he will ALWAYS refer back to prior classes. He will also bring out stuff from higher level classes, we knew we were in trouble when he brought out the robotics book for mechanism design. only plus is that hes so lazy that me might make ur test uber easy on accident.

Heres the thing with Ganesan, he's never quite understood the idea of course progression. While he is a smart guy much of the information he tries to instill in his students is hardly useful. Memorizing the equations for lines on a phase diagram was not the reason I chose to become an engineer.

He takes the time to learn his students' name. He is somewhat fun to talk to outside of class. However, he not a very good teacher. Numerous times his lecture material was just plain wrong. Students in general will struggle with any class if the notes the prof puts on the board is wrong. His tests/quizzes didn't correspond to notes/homework.

Comment:

He is honest and straitforward, and fun to talk to. He goes out of his way to talk to students after class and really enjoys joking around. He makes it a point to know your name and harrass you later. The tests are quit straitforward, but there is always something dificult inherent in the subject.
