Comment:

Prof. Mulkey is AWESOME. He's done so many cool things and visited so many places in his life, and it's really interesting to hear him talk about his experiences. He cares more about his students learning something than actual grades, so he is a super chill grader. Definitely take this class, you'll learn a lot.

Comment:

Dr. Mulkey has been an amazing professor. He is an amazing lecturer and is so knowledgeable about his field. I loved going to class and learning from him. He truly cares about his students. He gives so many chances for extra credit and if you pay attention you can do well on his exams. I loved this class and the professor. Highly recommend it!

Comment:

Mulkey makes me sleep, I have not paid attention to his lectures the whole semester. He likes to ramble a lot. This is not an easy elective if you are looking for that. It is not hard either but he definitely makes you work for it by having a group project and papers to do at the end. There are 3 exams and his A is a 94.

Comment:

Dr. Mulkey is worth taking just for his years of experience in his field, he has a lot of fascinating stories. He assigns a decent amount of homework but its pretty manageable as long as you put in a bit of effort.

Comment:

Dr. Mulkey was by far one of the most caring and intelligent professors I have ever had. His passion and knowledge for what he does is like no other and he is very helpful when it comes to answering anything about the classwork and the info. Definitely recommend taking this class if climate change and sustainability is something that interests you.

Mulkey is a great prof. I personally thought the exams were a bit hard, but I am terrible at studying so I got 60s/70s on the exams. If you study better than me, you will be fine. Lectures are very interesting because Mulkey is very passionate about what he teaches. Theres a group project at the end of the course but it's not too hard.

Mulkey is amazing, a great teacher who really cares. He is engaging and always great to work with. His tests are absurd, and he gives a fire hose of information, but you should absolutely take his classes.

I learned more in Dr. Mulkey's class about sustainability than any other class at UF. He is a real genius. The tests are very hard, but if you can withstand that he is 100% worth learning from.

Dr. Mulkey's class is difficult and time heavy, but it's manageable if you attend lecture and take notes. His tests are relatively difficult, so be ready to study for them. As a person, Dr. Mulkey is one of the greatest professors and role models I've ever had. This is one of those courses that makes you realize your into the field, or you're not.

This class was really easy. I don't know who left those earlier comments, but they must have never gone to class. He posts the exact notes he reads from online, so if you read those you're golden. Going to class helps because he gives "take home messages", but it's not mandatory. He told us Summer 2008 is actually his last time teaching at UF...

do not take this class...people think it's easy..and it is if you have a fricken sponge for a brain..the amount of material he expects you to study is ridiculous and sometimes his tests don't directly relate to the notes.. His voice makes you want to sleep

This class is painfully boring when it comes to attending lecture. Mulkey just reads off his website. You're better off just printing his notes and memorizing them, and then reading the textbook and memorizing that because that is where most of his test questions come from. Most of the things he lectures about in class aren't on the test.

You'll need to concentrate on paying attention in his auditorium lecture-classes -- he slowly scrolls through his website while narrating the text -- but he's very approachable, obviously loves the subject, and has lots of cool anecdotes from the field.

His tone of voice makes you fall asleep in class. His notes are not very good since they are mostly pictures and not as much information. He can be rude when you ask him a question during the test.

The notes are all on line so you have to print them out. Also he is a terrible speaker. If you dont have a fairly strong background in Bio you will be in trouble and the fact that he is egotistical does not help. be ready to study...a lot
