Steve once told the entire class "I couldnt get a job when I came out of Grad School because I wasn't a minority or a woman" Im sorry Steve you are a privilege white man in an all white faculty now. People love being fanboyz of professors like this. He's a good professors but he views on women and race are retrograde.

he is an excellent technical professor. He did give me a lot of all nighters and lots of pressure but was great for my technical formation. I do think RISD photo undergrad is a bit conservative in terms of teachers. Steves forte isn't critique-its being a task mater, obsessive with the YALE style photo fetishist print. good times. learned a lot

Ok he wasnt actually my senior crit teacher but he was the other section's. He still taught me how to burn a hot crit. Basically his style of critique is very clear and helpful on a number of levels. Copy him and you'll be well on your way to being able to ask a real question. Glad I could be part of this dude's early days of full time faculty. He's WITH OUT QUESTION the best thing risd photo has going. period. Fire John, ok steve? You hear me?
