She gives lots of homework. She gives homework to do notes over your reading and she grades them and they can be wrong. We often do small group discussion and then discuss as a class, so be prepared to share your thoughts. You have 3 papers and she grades really hard on them. She does not accept late work. Overall not horrible but dont recommend

too caring, if I want to fail your class because of my phone, that is not your problem. Lecture can be boring, VERY tough grader. Daily writings are pass or fail, NO inbetween. I would be doing much better in this class if I was not taking Stats and focusing all my time there. She is nice and very educated but expects too much for a 100 level class

Dr. Kroeg is okay, her class can be very boring but she's not awful. She gives good feedback and is very accessible outside of the classroom. She does give a lot of work and you'll write a lot of papers with her and if you forget your text book you are marked half an absence. Not the worst professor but I would not take her again

Dr. Kroeg is a delightful woman and wonderful professor. She's incredibly intelligent in her field of study and it was always a pleasure to listen to her lectures. She also has a surprisingly snarky sense of humor. Take one of her classes if you can!

Dr. Kroeg is a very intelligent woman, but can be a bit boring with lecture. She is heavy on attendance and likes everything to turned in on time. As a professor she was a little in the intimidating side and was not very helpful. I definitely would not take her again.

This lady really knows her stuff and has really high expectations for her students. She is really nice and is willing to help you out if you make the effort. Don't assume that you can get by by only using sparknotes.

Definitely recommend. It's a lot less lecture & more group discussion over the books. As long as you keep up with the reading you'll pass. Don't be intimidated by the W - we just did short writing prompts at the beginning of class and two papers over the course of the semester. Second paper in parts - rough draft, peer revision, final draft, etc.

I expect that Dr. Kroeg is hard on freshman, and high expectations are like kryptonite to some of them. At the graduate level, anyway, she demonstrates advanced knowledge and critical insight. She expects students to read a hefty amount of material and be prepared for discussions, but it's an English grad program - what would you expect?

I had her for a class over the Romantic period. She is a wonderful professor, despite some of the opinions here. There is daily required note taking, which is incredibly helpful when it comes time for tests and papers. She's great when it comes to feedback over the material and she always comes in cheery and ready to take on the class.

Very intelligent, well versed in formatting and all other aspects of presentation. However, very mediocre and dull. Most of the class was spent touting her own literary career. Administration suits this professor as she seems incapable of connecting with majority of students. A wonderful lesson of not want to strive for in realm of English.

Intelligent and well versed in formatting and all the other aspects of presentation. However, I felt that the professor was mediocre and dull. Too concerned with touting her own literary career. Offers no insight. She is perfect for administrative duties.

She was a bit intimidating. Lots of work and tough on grading. She has very little personality or just not a good one. Yet she is a very intellegent woman but a also old fashioned. I wouldn't take another class from her, but you can take your chances.

She is a wonderful professor!! True, you must read before class because there will be quizzes, however, she explains everything clearly. Her tests are not that hard as long as you have read and the papers aren't bad either. I would recommend her for anyone taking English!

LOTS of reading; LOTS of writing; but this was an advanced course, so it's easy to see why. Sometimes a little unclear about what she expects from papers, but is willing to help in revision and editing process. Overall, a helpful professor who engages students in subject.

A very intelligent woman. She is a good professor and does not take anything off of her students. Make sure to show up to every class cause there are alot of pop quizes. Be sure to read the assignments and pay very close attention when you read and in class cause you never know when she will call on you in class

She really cares about her students. When I had a question about a grade, she was happy to talk with me about it, and she's a really good teacher. If you're willing to work hard, you'll definitely get a lot out of her class.

I wasn't really wanting to take an English class here, but I stuck with it because of Dr. Kroeg. She explained everything to where it was impossible for it to be confusing, and she always made herself available for us when we needed help on papers and all. She is a big fan of class discussion, which is another plus.

Made a boring class on literary terms, genres, and criticism interesting. Really teaches you how to be a lit. critic.
