Took poetry and had a great time. The tests are ridiculously easy, and you have to write a couple of papers, but he'll give good feedback if you ask. Take minimal notes and talk in class occasionally and you'll make an A in this class.

While knowledgeable on the subject of poetry, Dr. Wenthe is very set in his interpretations of poetry and that makes it difficult to disagree. A common complaint myself and other classmates had was he expects you to go with his suggestions in revision. He is frequently prone to tangents, and doesn't follow the syllabus.

Dr. Wenthe really knows his poetry, but he's also very particular about his interpretations, which can be annoying if you disagree. He gets distracted VERY EASILY and is prone to tangents. Gives very honest and good feedback on papers, but you really have to put work and thought into them if you want a good grade. GO TO CLASS AND GET THE BOOK.

Good teacher and he really knows his material! However, can get easily distracted and if you don't get the two textbooks and the packet he makes, you lose 3% off your final grade for each class without them. I find that an amazingly harsh punishment from such a laid back teacher. Seems criminal to me!

I had a variety of classes with Dr. Wenthe, including an independent study, creative writing workshops, and literature classes. He was more helpful than any other professor I've ever had. His classes aren't "easy," but if you're willing to invest time and effort, you can achieve an A. If you don't like him, there's something wrong with you.
