Comment:

Class was not extremely interesting, just discussion about the readings. Teacher is passionate about the subject and pushes your thought process. She can push the line of sometimes seeming rude, but she is actually really nice.

Comment:

Dr. Stan is a little odd, but great nonetheless. She knows a lot about children's literature and loves teaching about it. Her class isn't difficult if you participate and put in a good effort. No midterm, just 3 synthesis papers, a final project, and take home final exam. I would definitely recommend taking her. I liked her and her class a lot.

She is a little cooky but fun. Most of the class is based on discussion of the readings, so make sure to read what is assigned. She does not really give study guides for the exams so be prepared to study on your own. Other than that, it's a fun class. The books are fun to read ;)

Truly an excellent professor. Witty and kind; passionate about children's literature and knowledgeable about it as well. Provides relevant assignments and assigned awesome books. Go to class-she learns everyone's names and she isn't kidding when she says she is aware of who is and isn't present in class. Take this class with her!

NIce professor, You read 1 book each week and write a response to it, mid-term, final, group project and a critical essay. She was great when it came to making up work and really cares about her students as long as you are honest and upfront. I will be taking ENG 481 with her. She picks interesting books. Excellent instructor

Dr. Stan's class was iffy. I was truly interested in the subject when I registered for the class but my interest has diminished. You will read a chapter book a week, which is difficult if you have a bunch of other classes with homework. Papers are vaguely explained, but grading is fair.

Comment:

Susan was one of my favorite language arts professors. She truly has a passion for children's literature and it's easy to get swept up into her world about it. Her quizzes are easy ONLY IF you have read the material. She paces the book reading perfectly so you do not get overwhelmed. I gained a lot of knowledge and new passion from her class.

Nice and passionate teacher....her tests were a bit hard though. Easy journal entries that can get annoying, but she picked fun books to read. not a bad class, i wouldnt mind taking her again.

Very knowledgable and interesting. I did not have a problem with her grading at all. She was very quick to respond with email, very helpful and fair. She was one of my favorite professors this semester. She ended up giving us a day off because she hadn't been sick all year, so that we would have extra time to work on our paper.

She is hilarious and very knowledgable about the subject. She chooses great books for the class to read. You write journal entries or a creative response about each book and share them w/ the class. You also need to do a poetry anthology of poems you collect. I loved this class and I plan to take as many english classes with her as I can.

I have never seen a college professor as fired up and excited about the class being taught as Dr. Stan was for the special topics course Made in Michigan. She is extremely helpful, very laid back, and extremely flexible. I would recommend any class this lady teaches.

This class is impossible with her teaching. She expects you to have memorized all of the books for her essay tests that she doesn't allow you to use the book for. She grades very harsh. Gives you no opportunities for points in the class. Do bad on the midterm, fail the class. Avoid her if you can!

very comical, you find yourself in a love/hate relationship with the class... papers are easy, spend the time to read the childrens books. Text is usefully for the exams and little else. She lectures directly from the text, word for word.
