Porcello was a really funny and engaging professor. I always looked forward to his classes. There was a average amount of reading, but he always explained stuff in class. Take him if you get the chance.

Comment:

Porcello is amazing! He is so knowledgeable about linguistics and makes lectures entertaining with his anecdotes and overall unique personality. Readings were given but not necessary to read as his lectures go over what the textbook says. The class was mainly memorization, so overall easy if you put in effort, which isn't hard as he's so engaging!

Comment:

Best professor I've had at Vassar. He made me wish Vassar had a linguistics department. He's funny. engaging, and gets you interested in the material. Tests are extremely fair - he tells you what to study and doesn't pull dirty tricks. I loved going to his class and can't wait to take another with him.

Porcello is the best professor I ever had. Take his course even if you think linguistics would be the last thing you'd ever be interested in. You'll change your mind. I literally am disappointed when class is over because I just want to stay and listen. He really brings the material alive and tells good stories too.
