Comment:
I worked hard, read the text, came in outside of class times and did my research, and I still had to fight for a C!! She does not cover things in lecture that she puts on the test! She is very passionate about the subject, but is unable to effectively teach it to students.

This instructor was the worst instructor I have ever had. No useful lectures or notes, does not provide answers or any form of study guide before exams. Questions on exam not related to chapters discussed. Off topic discussion rambling. Read the text book over and over, because your screwed on the exams other wise.

Val was honestly the worst professor I've had. She was never clear in her lectures, poor public speaker (her mannerisms and mumbling were distracting). Mandatory weekend homework (listening to her pre-recorded lectures because she never got through them in class). I took biology before and her lectures were even confusing to me.

-Very unorganized, makes many mistakes during lecture and writing tests and grading so you have to keep on her and correct her constantly. -I had to learn from the text book because she skips over many topics that are on her tests. Her online test questions are poorly written and confusing. -Her lab test questions are vague. -No feedback!

Absolutely little clarity as possible in the class or when asking for help outside of class. Instructions are often contradictory and then you are graded on other students incompetency. Worse teaching style I have ever had in my entire academic career. Not a horrible person and knows science herself but should have never gone into teaching.

Val is an example of a professor that shouldn't be allowed to teach, an example of low accountability in the education system. She is one of the worst teachers I've ever had, students I've talked to agree along with a staff member I talked as well (seriously).

The lectures she does in class suck, and then she makes you watch an 1 hour and 30 minutes lecture for each chapter we go through. Her lectures are no help since you're going to have to watch the videos anyways to learn anything at all.

If you want an easy A, don't take her classes. If you want to learn a lot, take her classes. She prepares you for future classes and then some. She is thorough and detailed, but if you don't want to work hard, don't take her. She cares about her students and wants you to succeed and gives you the tools. If you know objectives, you'll pass easily.

She gets paid to read off a powerpoint. I don't consider that teaching. She is downright rude, and im not saying this because im bitter. I did pass the class, however most did not. She does not help, and unless you suck up to her and compliment her everyday, she doesn't care about you. I don't even know how she is still working there...

She wants everyone to come with enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Does reviews and grades promptly. Hard work, but you learn a lot and it's very relevant. I utilize the information from class in my professional and daily life all the time. Listen to her lectures then look up what she talked about in the book

Although Val is a really tough teacher, she does care about her students. She doesn't want to see you fail. Yeah she is HARD, but if you take the time to read the text, go to her discussions, then you'll be okay. I've never had an issue with passing, and now this class I wasn't so sure, but watch crash course and khan academy and go to discussions.

Val states that she follows the curriculum of a 300 level UW class. If you are not willing to work hard every single day, then she will give you the grade you deserve. I had to study 2-3 hours a day, attend review sessions, go to class every single day, ask lots of questions, and I passed with a great grade.

Although it was a challenging class, she had study sessions and office hours if you needed help. She's good at explaining the material and you know what to expect from her tests because she has objectives. Good teacher.

Val is a good teacher, however very demanding in her student's work. Micro has so much work to do. Recommend not taking other classes or not a lot of other demanding classes when taking her.

Terrible. I have never failed a class, and I did. She is the worst teacher I have ever had. On the first day of class she flat out said "half of you will fail my class." I should have known then to drop it. She doesn't care about her students, your whole grade is based off of tests. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!

I felt like she expected you to have previous biology knowledge before entering the class. Since she recorded her lectures online, and only read off of power points, I lost interest in attending class and only went to mandatory labs. If you want to teach yourself, then take her. If you want to learn biology, take someone else.

I took micro in the summer which made the class even harder, but Val was awesome at aswering questions and even set up review sessions on days without class to clarify any material. She was very helpful and made the subject interesting.

Val is an excellent teacher and truly cares about the students. She gives the students every opportunity to pass this class. She posts the lectures online so you can re-listen to them, always returns emails quickly, and happily answers questions. She uses power points and has the note pages online for you to print off and fill in during class.

She knows Biology really well, so she expects her students to know the same as much as she does. She's a Bio major and her students are not even close to that and just taking classes because it's a prerequisite. EXPLAINS TOO FAST. READS POWERPOINT OUT LOUD for lecturing. No examples. Picky on grading lab journals.
