Comment:
A deceptively difficult class due to the sheer amount of homework necessary, and the laid back nature of Johnson's teaching style further disguises the difficulty level. However, Johnson really knows and loves Shakespeare and tries very hard to impart both his knowledge and love to us. He usually succeeds too.

Professor Johnson is just this jolly old man who is so cheery during his 8am Shakespeare class. He is super nice and helpful. He really pushes his students to be the best. He does give a lot of daily homework, but it's helpful. He's part professor and part friend :)

I never believed I would like Milton, but thanks to Johnson, I not only like MIlton, but I have a deep appreciation for why he matters, which is more than I can say for what many other professors have done. This guy is fun and takes the material fairly lightly. He is also very available to students and actually takes time to get to know you.

Makes Milton interesting! Incredibly nice person and makes himself very, very available to students. Always willing to help you work through the assignments. Really wants you to learn something. He does, however, give ALOT of homework. Also, be ready for lots of group work and to be called on at any moment in class. Great prof, recommend him.

Class is fun and interesting, but the tests are amazingly difficult. I don't remember covering anything more than one or two things in the class that appeared on the test. My advice: Study AS MUCH as possible!

I agree with everything in the review below. I thought this man was incredibly entertaining (especially for an 8am class) and knowledgable. But, he assigns a LOT of work, too much I think. However, you do end up learning more about the author and his works and the times than you probably would have with any other teacher.

Very, very brilliant man. Expects a LOT from you as the student; sometimes forgets that we have jobs/other classes/lives outside of his class with the reading and work load, but it's totally worth it in the end. Really don't like Milton any more after taking the class, but it was a pleasure to learn Milton from Johnson.

Great teacher. Shares great experiences that can be used. Gives EC. Allows work to be brought and evaluated before due date. Of all the classes taken, this will by far be most helpful.

I took Bill's Shakespeare class my freshman year. It was my favorite class. He is a brilliant, enthusiastic teacher with an skill for telling great stories. He has so much background information and it is a joy to listen to sit back and take it all in. I was so impressed by his efforts to get to know his students and remember them long after the class has ended. Aside from his fun-loving side, he demands respect and has truely earned his title as Doctor.

I loved Bill and his class. He truly takes an interest in the subject matter and students. His class was extremely demanding, but very "enlightening."

Studied abroad with this man in Oxford and it was one of the best experiences of my life. Talk about Shakespeare! And he is genuinely a wonderful teacher, always willing to help. Great person, great teacher, great resource. I've heard stories about Red Eye Milton, too ... but it's all worth it!

This man has too much fun teaching. He's the only teacher I know that will climb up on top of his desk with an injured leg just to prove a point! He's tough but he's more than willing help any way he can. And to top it all off, he's just plain cute!
