Surprisingly, I received an A. I knew NOTHING of politics but after the first essay exam I knew I had to take 3 hours a day to drown in the information from the book,online, and from his annoying lectures. He is condescending, loud, and old, and well expects you to truly know the information from top to bottom no excuses!If you have a job- DROP !

I miss Dr. Lamkin. He was Awesome. He was challenging but insightful. His classes changed my life. I never had an interest in political science before taking his classes and now it is my major at NAU.

Very disrespectful with a lot of sarcasm. Also shouted a lot. Never had any powerpoints or visuals, just a lot of talking. Unless you can read his mind and think like him, don't take the class.

Lamkin is not an instructor You have to word every answer perfectly and you are graded according to his interpretation for his tests and half of my class withdrew half through the semester If you need a note taker they wont be able to keep up, he talks like a political runner. If you use a recorder he "forgets to turn it on"if youre disabled

Definitely a class worth taking. I took this class in Spring 2012. His lectures consist of the material that will be on the tests. All tests are take-home, essay question tests. Write down a lot of notes and then transfer those notes to the test. It will be an easy A. Attendance and participation count for your grade, so show up and participate!

Great professor who imparts understanding, and who isn't merely interested in students regurgitating facts. Many students simply want to be spoon fed facts, and be given an 'A' for reproducing them on paper; consequently, many students dislike Dr. Lamkin; however, for those who truly want to truly grasp what is taught, Dr. Lamkin is excellent.

Dr. Lamkin is a very inspiring person. I believe everyone who says he is boring does not share an appreciation for a teacher of quality. His classes are not for the unmotivated student who seeks the easy "A". Lamkin is very passionate about what he does and every student who walks into his classroom with an open mind, will get the benefit of that.

One of the best teachers I've had in a long time. Really challenges you to think about what you believe. He also knows his stuff you can't go wrong with Lamkin. Go in with an open mind and he will meet you with an open mind as well.

Very conservative. Space out when he complains about liberals, he'll take a while. Arrogant and sometimes even insulting to the class. Lectures are a combination of boring and interesting. Tests are multiple short essays, up to his interpretation. You'll always be late getting out of class.

I did his class honors and honestly the people that disliked him either didn't understand politics or were lazy. He's very passionate about what he teaches and really you just have to put some effort into it. He makes no secret of his extremely conservative inclinations, but thats just how it is. Super glad he survived his cancer scare!

If you enjoy the Socratic method of instruction, you will enjoy his classes. He is very well read and expects his students to actively read Plato, Dostoyevsky, Hobbes, Locke, Madison, Jefferson, Marx, Lenin, and others for his poli sci classes. His tests are all essay format and written papers are req. He is not for the lazy or unmotivated.

He is awful. I am an honor student with a 4.0 and I struggled in his class. His lectures are awful and unnecessary. He does not teach what he expects you to know on the test. STAY AWAY if possible!!!

He is very nice and very funny. However he does grade VERY hard, and his tests are all essay form. If Political Science is your love then this is the class for you, but if you are just taking it for the credit stay AWAY from this teacher. He was fun as a teacher, but very very difficult. He expects you to know a lot already. STUDY!!!

He is a pretty good teacher but hard to follow sometimes. It helps to have an interest in the subject and doing your work exactly when you first receive them help ALOT. And his class is mainly a writing class with few assignments, so if your good at writing you'll ace this. He does grade hard however.

Arrogant Pompus instructor who thinks he is the only one that knows anything about politics and we the students are just dumb fresh out of useless high school. Exams are all essays and subject to his pathetic interperation of the answers. You could really know your stuff but still not do well on his tests. He really doesnt care about you!!!

Dr. Lamkin is a good teacher, way too conservative but that doesn't effect his grading. He likes to talk so don't sign up for another class right after his class...you'll show up late every day! Must read the book, do the study guide and do the essays. Get to know the people(smart people) in your class because a study group is very beneficial.
