McCleary is so kind and really wants everyone to succeed. Very passionate about the subject. You have to memorize a lot of organisms but the rest of the material is pretty simple. Tests are straightforward and there's a TON of extra credit opportunity. I recommend him for sure.

In this class the majority of your grade comes from 40 minute bacterial physiology topics. There's no tests. You will be in a group of 3 or 4 that does everything together. If you need MMBio major credits take this class. You will learn how to read scientific papers and practice speaking in public.

LOVE Professor McCleary. He is amazing and totally cares about you. He shares his testimony and it is incredibly touching. His class isn't too hard because he will prepare you for what is on the test. I would 10/10 take him again. His class was a GREAT experience for me! I am not very good at MMBIO and he made it SO FUN and EASY. Love.

Professor McCleary is the professor who I MOST wanted to have again as a teacher. His pacing and efforts to get to know his students makes it clear that he WANTS us to succeed. He can be a bit slow-paced at times, but he still expects performance.

McCleary is an amazing professor! He really cares about his students and he wants you to do good. All of the midterms are mostly free response, but he makes it very clear what he wants us to know. It requires a lot of memorization, like a lot, but it is doable. I would highly reccomend.

He really cares about you AND your grade. Everything on the midterms and final come from his slides. The TA reviews definitely help you in preparing for tests, along with a study guide that tells you exactly what you need to know. During lecture, he will either highlight or mention what you do and don't need to know. Just try and you'll be fine!

This class is a lot of work because he has to teach a ton of material in one semester to give an intro to micro. But he did a great job at keeping the students engaged, and his lectures were NEVER confusing or difficult to follow. Everything he teaches in class is on his powerpoints and in the book. Definitely use the book when you are studying!

Took MMBIO 151 form him. It was a pretty easy class. There is a lot of material, but its an entry level class so his learning objectives are very clear. Extra credit is offered. The first test was a breeze, but the second was a lot more difficult. The final wasn't too bad. He tells you exactly what to study in preparation for the final.

McCleary is a really funny guy and is always available if you need help in the class. Theres in class activities every day, but 5 get dropped from your score. Tests are mostly free response with about 7 multiple choice questions. I felt that tests were harder than they needed to be, especially for a 100 level class. Overall good teacher.

Dr. McCleary was an excellent teacher. He puts a lot of effort into his slides and uses songs and pictures to help you memorize important things. He is always available to meet with you and really wants you to succeed. He prepares you for the tests and gives you a study guide with clear expectations before each test. I highly recommend taking him

Took it during Spring term, it wasn't bad even though it was his first time using InQuizitive, which is dumb. Some students did very poorly on the tests but he tells you how many questions are on each chapter and gives extra credit. I got a high A on each exam. His slides aren't the best but just know the objectives for each chapter and you're good

Dr. McCleary is super nice! His class is just so sporadic and confusing. I never knew what I actually needed to know and it seems pointless because he had us memorize a bunch of microbe names but there is no reason to ever remember them. I don't feel like I learned anything useful out of this class.

He is an awful teacher. I took him Spring semester, and the class was a joke. Don't take it from him if you can. His TA is completely useless. Seriously, at the test reviews we would ask a question and he would say I don't know, does anyone know? He tests on material he doesn't cover in class. Like super detailed. So prepare yourself.

This was a tough class, but he made it interesting. He gave us opportunities to get extra credit by submitting summaries of articles related to microbio. Also, he curved our midterm like 8-9% since our average was so low. (I wish he did the same for the final). His exams are pretty tough even though i studied a TON. online quizzes are pretty easy.

Dr. McCleary made this tough, fast class very interesting by incorporating fun materials (his song selections) and in-class group activities. Group activities especially helped me get to know some of the classmates better, which helped me enjoy the class more. He truly cares about the students' success. Exams are hard, but lots of EC's!

The class was pretty good. Assignments and quizzes were open book and easy, but the exams were tough. He is super approachable, though, and will work really well with you if you don't understand anything.

The class is fairly low maintenance: open book quizzes, in class assignments, one project that is fairly easy, the hardest part was getting together with your group. However, he tests above where he lectures. He tells you how to study for the tests and offers really good review sessions. If you do that you can get a good grade.

He made everything except for the exam very easy, but beware, the exam has very specific questions and can be difficult.
