do not take for lab!!! his lab exams were the most difficult of all the lab instructors. lab is supposed to help your grade and this was insane. I have an A average in the class and lab is whats holding my grade down.

Dr. Fairchild is a nice guy, and a great professor. Subject matter is pretty dry but he teaches it well. Be ready for tough tests; invest the time to prepare yourself adequately.

Pretty good teacher, and is funny if you get his sense of humor. He doesn't really articulate what he looks for in assignments, and is a very picky grader. Some exam questions are confusing. Gives extensive feedback on assignments, which will cost you dearly if you don't review it. Didn't round me up, he indicated that he usually doesn't.

Bio is not my stong point, but Fairchild made it bearable. He replied to emails quick and made concepts easy to understand. Only downfall is that reading the book is necessary for his portion of the tests. Read the book! It helps alot with different systems and diagrams. Really enjoyed his humor too!

Fantastic teacher. His feedback on labs and the final project is incredible. You can tell that he is very dedicated to his teaching profession and will help you whenever possible. I have never met another professor that clearly cares as much as him.

I took fresh water ecology with him over the summer and it was one of the best classes I have ever taken. We went on many field trips to lakes, ponds and creeks. Very nice teacher. One of the best teachers I have ever had too. He is friendly and very smart

Dr. Fairchild is extremely boring!! He lectures in a very monotone voice that evokes feelings of your impending death from boredom. Very appreciative that the lecture is split between Knabb and himself. Is very knowledgeable on the subjects of evolution and ecology, is just very bad at conveying the information in an exciting way.

First day of class Dr. Fairchild was wearing Tivos and socks. I thought, "Environmental type" and I was correct. He's a nice man and I enjoyed the classes he taught. The class is hard and you must work hard but it is all worthwhile.

I took Pop Bio with him. He is somewhat boring, but he likes to slip in jokes when he thinks you're not paying attention. He has a sense of humor. Really nice guy, will help you with anything. Need to read the book, but he tells you what will be on the exams. Definitely would recommmend him.
