MATH 3200: Winfried is a real gem. His lectures are actually fun, but you do not have to show up to class. The breakdown is as follows: 6 WEDNESDAY quizzes- takes best 4 (20%), TopHat (20%), Group Work (10%), Term-Test (25%), and the Final (25%). This class was an easy A. I will miss Winfried. I hope I can take more classes with him!

Dr. Just was one of the best professors I have ever had. His style of teaching is different but I followed right along and enjoyed going to his 8:30 AM class everyday. Everything was online, so you had to make sure you stayed on top of your assignments. It was participation heavy, not test heavy. He wants to to learn, not cram and stress.

I found his lectures really confusing and hard to follow. He used tophat for everything including homework. Takes homework and in-class tophat questions for correctness and it's all online so there is no partial credit. He will sometimes do "conversations" instead of a traditional lecture which made the material hard to find, much less understand

Attendance was not mandatory, but you got graded based on participation in TopHat. He teaches math through a presentation, which is the worst idea ever, and he does not answer any of the questions you ask. YouTube will help you learn more than he will. His class starts out curved, but that does not make it easy.

Just's class is full of theorems. He rarely does mathematical examples which makes doing homework nearly impossible. He gives powerpoint lectures for the entirety of almost every class. It is a very difficult way to learn math. Also he is really terrible at answering students questions. We are usually more confused after hearing his response

You will have to work very hard, but it's worth it. He teaches very well using his own teaching material, no hard to read textbook. Very helpful in office hours. Homework is very hard and graded difficulty for a significant part of your grade, but not detrimental. Would definitely recommend as a diff eqs professor.

Dr. Just is a great person... but his teaching style isn't ideal. He teaches off of Power Point slides and very rarely writes anything of use on the board. The exams are extremely difficult, and if you make a small mistake towards the beginning of the question, you won't get credit at all. However, he is willing to help if you ask for it.

Dr. Just seems to have a reputation as a difficult grader, and rightfully so. Homework doesn't count towards your grade at all, just quizzes and exams? That being said, he knows what he's talking about and is willing to help. It takes work, but with Dr. Just you can definitely learn a lot and succeed.

This man should actually not teach. His teaching methods will leave you confused and not understand a very simple subject. What he creates on his slides have no form of order and he doesn't follow any textbook. He creates what he wants and if you try to teach yourself off of YouTube or out of a book your more than likely to fail his class.

He prefers to use power point slides to teach the course, which he blows right through during the lecture so he misses points and takes shortcuts that could be critical for doing the HW. Does not use blackboard and does not use the "textbook" as a teaching aid even though it is given out for free. Has a very weird thing for shakespeare

Comment:
This class is taught in such a way that makes absolutely zero sense. And while you could go on your own to watch videos on youtube or read out of a textbook to learn it yourself, the exams are still going to be asked in the most confusing ways with notations from his own lectures. Don't take linear algebra with Just. Don't.

Just is a very jolly guy and tries to make the lectures interesting, but that in return results in most of the material being a lot more difficult than it needs to be. The quizzes and exams are very hard. You will need to put a lot of time into his classes, so I would recommend not taking him if you already have a heavy course load.

Just was the worst math teacher ive came across. None of the students liked him, the only reason people passed is because the department forced him to give a monster curve. Very confusing, goes on irrelevant tangents, acts like a junior level class was a masters level course. Too much theory was taught, you had to derive yourself. Not reccomended

Had Professor Just for Applied Linear Algebra. My experience may have only been bad because I believe this was his first semester teaching this class. Regardless should've been a simpler class. Helpful during office hours but the lectures were fairly confusing. Learned more through the internet than his lectures. Could be better next semester.

Took him for differential equations in fall. He's tough, and his quizzes and exams are extremely difficult. No cheat sheets, formulas, etc. In class, his lectures are confusing, and he doesn't go over everything he assigns. He will answer questions, and is helpful during office hours I'm told. The class has a built in curve, which is the only save.

I loved Dr. Just. He's a funny guy and relates math to life. He has his own grading scale that is very forgiving...an 86 is an A...an 80 is an A- and so on. He also gives out extra credit to anyone who proves him wrong or points out a mistake. I loved this class. Difficult but if you study and do the homework you'll be fine.

Overall good professor. You need to know the principles behind most of the materials and he makes sure you know them. Notes could get hard to follow but tests weren't too difficult. The tests would have some easy problems and two that you had to really rely on your previous math skills to understand. Quizzes were out of left field. Nice guy too

Had him in the spring '11. Dr. Just's teaching I thought was pretty straight-forward. His tests were very similar to homework problems, if you understood the basic concepts of the course, then you would do fine on his tests. Do the homework and you'll be fine. Also if you got a better grade on the final he would replace it, probably how I got my A.

Just was pretty difficult at understand because he mumbled a lot when he spoke. Hard to follow and stops in the middle of problems. Taking notes were confusing. Quizzes are very hard, but they are very similar to the exams, so know what you are doing. If you don't know something, use his office hours. He would make sure you do well.
