Comment:
This course was taught entirely online because of Covid. Dr. Dunckel handled the transition well and helped students who weren't intending on taking it online. There are lots of (good) readings and discussion posts, but they're tailored to reflect current events. The final paper takes a good amount of research, but it is worked on incrementally.

Professor Dunckel was the worst teacher and class that I have taken in college. I would not recommened him whatsoever. Took him for interim and did not grade one single paper and days after it was over still nothing graded. Attendence and participation matters. Has class favorites and is judgy on topics. Talks down to you and is rude. Dont take.

His lectures can be interesting at times, but he is very disconnected from the students in his class. He fluffed up the class a lot, it is obvious he is very concerned about his image as a professor so he makes the class a lot harder than it should be. All the assignments leading up to the final paper are pointless and the class isn't very useful.

I took professor Dunckel for English 300 (interim) and I would not recommend doing this because its a lot of work in a short amount of time. Prof. Dunckel is a nice guy but only had two things graded (out of 6) by the last day of class so I had no idea what my grade was going into the final paper/last day which was frustrating.

He's a nice professor. You just read short poems (they get longer throughout the semester) and talk about them for the entire hour. Exams are open-book and there are three papers throughout the semester. I recommend you to read the assigned poem and attend class and take notes when you can, it helps you on your exam and when writing your papers.

Dr. Dunckel is a nice guy and his lectures are interesting for the most part. I took this course over interim and we wrote a few short essays and one research paper. Didnt get any grades back until after the class was over. He also didnt open a majority of my papers. Good if you want an easy A, not good if you want to improve your writing.

The attendance policy is outrageous. You can only miss two classes, the third missed class takes away one third of your grade. ONE THIRD. The class itself is ungodly boring. He really likes to hear himself talk, so be prepared to sit through an hour and a half of rambling. Also very vague with instructions of assignments.

Dunckel's class was very easy. We basically read poems, discussed them in class, handed in a few papers, and took two exams. A couple of tips: bring your textbook, Google information about the poem before class (he likes class participation), attend class, and turn in your papers. You're practically guaranteed an A.

As an advanced composition class, we never work on actually improving our writing. All we do is read essays, write responses to them, and discuss the readings in class. He has yet to get any of those grades back to us, and it's the last week of class. If you like to know what your grade is, don't take him. You won't know until the class is done.

Images of masculinity is seriously easy as long as you put in effort. Yeah you have to read the books to participate in discussion but it really isn't that bad. Sometimes the paper assignments are unclear but he is very helpful if you just ask! Only 4 papers, the last one only 2 pages

I like this class a lot. There's an informal two page double spaced reading response due every week which sounds terrible but it's really easy, and one research project OF YOUR choice. Its pertaining to your major so its beneficial to yourself and interesting. He's really great about helping you along in class discussions.Speak up! He loves it!

Fails to hand anything back on time. Class is worthless to even attend you learn nothing from him as a professor and do nothing worth your time.

Dunckel is a great teacher. His understanding of literature and poetry is amazing, and he does a great job conveying that to you through class discussions. He is also very good at not putting down student's interpretations of poetry/lit in discussion. His exams/papers are easy if you go to class and read the assignments. Highly recommend Dunckel

Dunckel is a really great teacher. He assigns only three formal papers and a few informal ones. His grading is easy (usually nothing less than a C). The only problem is he expects students to participate a lot.

Dr. Dunckel is one of the smartest and well rounded teachers I have yet to experience. He prompts some of the most interesting disscussions and makes reading Rousseau easy to understand. Take him if you can

Dunckel is the bestest. He is funny and a bit twisted. It is truly a treat when he gets going about sex or infinity. He is awesome. Although he does cancel class quite often. Which is a nice break every now and then. Fair grader.

I loved his class. Knows an extensive amount of interesting factoids about the romantic era and makes even the most boring elements of this lit seem pretty entertaining. The only problem I had was that he tends to cancel class about 3 times a semester. I've had him in another class and he did the same thing again.

Great professor. Stimulates dynamic conversation and allows for debate. As long as you keep up with the reading you will do well. Great for 381.

I was really excited about htis class but it was a dud. He cancelled class but didn't make anything easier and then made us feel sorry for him when we went to fill out class evaluatins. What a waste of time.
