Comment:

Hands down my favorite professor at Kean University! I took him for 3 courses and I honestly wish I could have taken him for more. He truly cares about his students! Just put in the time and study the lectures well and you will be fine! He really made me appreciate the field of Audiology in a major that focused mainly on speech and language.

Comment:

Dr. Gertner is a decent professor. He cares for his students and he wants you to pass, but you're going to have to work for an A. Some of his tests were a bit unfair, but they're passable. He randomly yells to be funny, which some students seem to find amusing, but it's annoying to me and causes unnecessary stress. Also goes off topic a lot.

I took Dr. Gertner for Basic Audiology, Hearing Science and Neuroscience of speech and hearing! he is amazing!! Studying is required as always, but he really does care for his students to understand and pass the course. He does get off topic, but it keeps the class interesting. Def recommend him!! He also loves what he does so he has fun with it

Dr. Gertner is an amazing lecturer. While some liked to complain about his off topic stories, it helped keep the class in good spirits. I think Neuro requires studying regardless of what professor you have, so he was not that easy but an A requires a lot of work

Dr. G is AWESOME! I've taken him for basic aud and will be taking him for hearing science. He makes lectures fun, he is hilarious, helpful, no textbook needed. Study handouts, pay attention in class, and record, he talks really fast. Exams are easy and he wants you to do well. He wants you to understand, so he makes lectures simple.

I took Dr. G for Speech Science, Basic Aud, Neuroscience, AND Hearing Science. He is always willing to explain more, so ask questions if you have them. If you go over the notes and powerpoints prior to the test you should be fine. ALSO, recording the lectures might be a good idea since he tends to speak quickly. Overall a great professor!

Took him for Speech Science, Hearing Science, Basic Audiology, AND Neuroscience so I obviously really like him. You dont need a textbook but you need to study his notes especially his diagrams to do well! He is extremely nice and friendly =)

Had Dr G for Speech Sci and Basic Aud. I Loved him! So helpful and such a nice guy. Go to class, pay attention, and spend some time going over the lectures before tests and you'll be fine. Wants you to do well. Don't bother buying the books for spch sci or basic aud. I didnt even open either one. Everything you need to know is in his notes.

He is really nice and helpful. However, he speaks so redicoulsy fast. It is so hard to grasp some of his consepts because of his talking speed. A bit of a change for Dr. Shulman who goes at a clearer and slower pace. He also sometimes puts things on tests that he didn?t go over in class and are not in his notes.

Dr. Gertner was a great professor. He really cares about his students and is passionate about teaching. I needed some help with speech science and he bent over backwards to make sure I understood everything.

Speech science was a piece of cake with Dr. G. Just show up, take notes, and spend a couple hours going over them before the test. Some people in class complained that he wasn't around to answer questions, but I didn't really have that problem. He's fun and easy. Don't bother buying the book.

Difficult to understand. Moves quickly. Has certain favorites and ignores the rest of the class. Rude. Take personal calls during class. Wastes time with personal stories. Extremely unorganized and unaware about schedules or deadlines. Takes very long to grade and return tests/assignments. Unavoidable if you are a speech major.

I had this professor for every audiology related class (speech science, hearing science, basic audiology, and aural rehabilitation). He is a very understanding person, and has a great sense of humor. SLP students love him!
