Comment:

You do not know your grade until after the semester because she does in-class work and you dont know your score. Tough grader, rarely gives out 100%. The class is out of very few points so dont expect to get an A. VERY unclear expectations for all assignments. Very condescending with her students also. Dont get on her bad side.

Comment:

Although Amy can sometimes come off as harsh, she is a very caring person who truly wants her students to learn. Her class can feel long due to her extended lectures but she always discusses important information that you should pay attention to. Overall Amy is a very respected educator and really cares about children and her students.

This professor was one of my least favorite professors. As we went in to take our final exam, she had graded less than half the the assignments for the class. She did not submit our final grades for almost a WEEK past the university deadline.

Comment:

Do not take a class from Amy Staples. It was the worst class I have ever taken at this university. Professors are usually very respected here but nobody in my class respected Amy because she didn't respect us. She doesn't care about grading and you won't get your assignments graded back quickly at all. She is the worst teacher I have ever had.

Created acct specifically to warn students about taking this class w/ Staples. Incredibly condescending & disorganized. Expect 3-4 wks to get graded material back necessary to improve. Quickly jumps on your case about what you've done poorly, but offers no help. Very negative. You must keep track of your own grade. Literally the Dementor of LitEd.

Amy's class is an easy one to get out of they way. Do not send her an email, you won't get a response. She is all over the place when she grades her quizzes. She does not keep her grading consistent. She lectures every class, and it is super boring.

Comment:

Professor Staples was a really great teacher. She is very passionate about helping children and really wants her students to succeed. Her class can be a little disorganized at times, but her lectures were very interesting. Class discussions were engaging. There is very little homework. You can just tell that she is a great teacher.

She knows her content but cannot teach properly. She makes you calculate your own grades but does not let you know if you got the full points on the assignment or not. Tests are ALL short ans/essay & are really tough b/c she wants very specific answers for each question. Try to avoid taking any class with her.

When I took this course, I'm pretty sure it was her first time teaching it. Her lectures can definitely be long, but she knows what shes talking about. Her class was pretty confusing, but she was always there when we needed help. She always asks the students what she could do to better the class.

The class was good but a little disorganized. The tests are specific, but as long as you read and take notes everything is fine. Plus she curves the tests. She is an easy grader on the projects and 75% of your grade is projects. Overall not a bad class to take.

This was the worst class I have ever taken in my college degree years. She not only would test over 40-50 page chapters but she tested over dates, with the author and book titles as well. Need I mention, there were hundreds of books each chapter. .You never knew what to expect from this class. I do not recommend LITED1044 at night with her. or ever

No more group tests. Really liked this class. Interesting views, she likes to hear what you think. Go to class and take notes, get an "A." Doesn't take attendance, grade based on 2 papers and 2 tests (100 pts total). Can redo papers. Sweet gal, best person to take this class from (grad student)

Very helpful. Somewhat difficult tests, but they are group. If you read the text you should be fine. Classes are very discussion oriented, and your papers should be very opinionated.

Not too bad of a class. Mid-term not as hard as last person said...if you actually study for it. It was a group test. Books are easy to read and class is basically all discussion. Recommend to take this one.

Very nice and approachable professor. Very realistic and helpful. Willing to adapt class to the students. Class can get boring but assignments aren't bad. Only 2 tests and they're curved and not that hard.
