Comment:
Dr. Bedard really knows his stuff & is very approachable after class. You'll learn a lot but this definitely isn't an easy course as there's a lot of content and I personally found his exams/midterms difficult to write because the questions are kinda vaguely worded or very specific. Not the worst course I've taken, but not the best. Overall 3.5/5.

I've been dealing with heart problems after many personal & family struggles. I lost all motivation to study and just wanted to get my degree & help out at home. Dr. Bedard showed me a kindness, that I haven't seen during my 3 years at Mac, even when I did not deserve it. If you are good at memorization and study well, you should have no problems.

Great prof. Very willing to help students and answer questions. Fair marker. Definitely not the easiest prof (quiet speaking voice thats hard to follow sometimes, some difficult test questions), but once you figure out his teaching style it is quite possible to do well in his classes.

If you force yourself to pay attention, you can get a lot out of his lectures. However, most people find him very hard to follow (soft voice and slight accent). Exam questions are basically just slide memorization.

It's imperative that you attend class for this course as the lecture notes are pretty bare. Dr. Bedard is a good lecturer and his assessments are fair.

Didn't understand his lectures at all, pure memorization of journal article facts. He did not explain the simple concepts at all and just taught us the journal stuff.

Has the ability to confuse you on the simplest concept and make you dislike what you loved before the course. Mumbles in lecture, slides have confusing diagrams and no logical order, and tests the smallest details. Overall worse prof I have ever had.

Comment:
His notes are awful. There is a lack of logical order mixed with useless slides. Half of my notes come from hours of looking through journal articles because he rambles in class. I was so excited for genetics... until I took the course.

Comment:
His notes are ... useless. He will have 50 slides to explain the most basic concept that you could probably understand in 2 slides. He'll make a simple process so confusing that you'll be sitting there staring at slides for hours and finally when you put all the fragments together you realize how easy it was and want to slap yourself.

He is very bluntly honest to others. If you're wrong, you are so wrong. If you're right, you're only a little right. This makes others hesitant to ask questions. He talks quite fast with an accent and his notes are quite unorganized.

The one teacher that actually uses material from his class and puts it on a test. Read his lecture notes and its guarantee a good mark without even trying. Cell silliling is the funniest thing i've ever heard too
