Was pretty concise on what concepts to know and understand. However very dry during lectures. Not very clear on some details. Also midterm is very difficult.

His lectures were really dry and his slides were pretty bare. Only plus is that the info on the slides is concise and he highlights key concepts in red. His Australian accent was nice and the only reason I went to the lectures. Make sure you know your stuff really well for the midterm because its marked pretty hard. He explained stuff well enough.

I loved genetics in high school and was really excited for this class, but it was so difficult to get through the lectures. I found the lectures dull and boring-It made me not want to attended. The slides he provides are decent but still not amazing.

Comment:

Dr Bendall sure does have a cool accent however his lectures are terrible, he gives out terrible slides and asks unreasonably tricky questions on the midterm and final. Although all the concepts are easy, he can not teach. Don't worry once Costalain takes over for the second half your mark goes up.

Comment:

Literally monotonously reads off the slides the whole lecture, he attempts to go off the slides but is very unsuccessful. Doesn't answer questions asked in class very well, you're better off using Google and reading your textbook. If you miss his class , you aren't missing much, he posts the slides online and the textbook is often more helpful.

Dr. Bendall is very knowledgeable and clearly interested in biology which is super nice. His lectures are very good and helpfully emphasize what you really need to know for the course. He's a great professor!

Bendall was not a great prof. I never once saw him smile, and his lectures were very dull and all over the place. He is not always clear when explaining concepts, so if you don't understand lecture material, either do the readings and/or ask for help! However, he wasn't terrible, his lectures could just be improved. The readings saved my life.

He's a good professor but not very memorable. Not the most engaging, kind of dull lectures sometimes but overall the lectures were helpful. If you go to class and to the SLGs you'll do well. The SLGs are definitely the biggest help, more so than lectures.

Comment:

I enjoyed attending his lectures, but I will admit they were a bit dull at times. He seems very very knowledgeable and explained things well. Sometimes I found he took too long in explanations, after all the genetics part of the course is pretty much grade 11 all over again. Don't underestimate the final, much harder than the midterm!!

Really great prof! He lectures with a lot of enthusiasm and makes it easy to understand sometimes complex terms and processes. This guy knows his stuff when it comes to cell and molecular biology...specifically Actin!It would be really great if I can take some upper year courses instructed by Dr. Bendall in the future!
