Wilkinson isnt easy but if you cant handle her, dont apply to a four year. She is an Ivy League level professor nestled within the mediocrity SBCC can be. She is tough but you will learn and gain insight. She is also very understanding and kind when it comes to rewrites or extra time on a paper. She is accessible and trustworthy. Take from her.

I loved Ann, I took her this summer and I thought it was going to be difficult, her summer class wasn't at all difficult. She's fun but is a bit passionate about some subjects, she will help you succeed and loves to teach. Take her!

OK. Wilkinson is SO passionate about Shakespeare. More than anyone on this planet. However, she's very opinionated about him and doesn't give much room for debate. Spends a lot of time on the films. LECTURE HEAVY! Talks A LOT but is extremely intelligent and knows a lot about language. Overall a passionate and informative professor.

I had disagreements with Ann about assignments/feedback/opinions on writing. I struggled in class, and in hindsight probably wasn't the nicest to her. Regardless, when my mother died that semester, Ann showed me kindness and understanding. She also always heard me out and never marked me down because of a disagreement. Greatest of all time. Legend.

Ann really cares about her students. If you want to discuss a story or poem that she doesn't assign just ask her and she would be happy to go over it. She genuinely wants students to enjoy what they read. She assigns readings, but doesn't quiz on them. Class is very discussion heavy so it helps to read if you want to participate.

Dr. Wilkinson's Eng 111 course is truly a great class to take. This professor cares about her students. She's very helpful if you ask questions and go to her OFFICE HOURS. Dr. Wilkinson is extremely intelligent and really wants her students to "critically think," so you're going to have to do the readings. One of the best teachers I've had.

Doctor Wilkinson is incredibly intelligent and she provides background material that many wouldn't bother to learn. If you are an English major you may be disappointed that she doesn't provide more feedback on essays other than a sentence or two- I personally really want to know how to improve so this was frustrating regardless of the grade.

Ann is a real gem and ive never learned as much from someome as I learned from her. She is the dumbledore of profesors and knows just about everything. If you show up, think and engage yourself, you will do well in her class. Take advantage of Ann if you have the pleasure to take her class, you will learn so much!

Dr. Wilkinson was an amazing professor! Opposed to what some people said, her lectures were AMAZING, and helped me understand the stories so much better. She is completely fine with you disagreeing with her opinions as long as you back yourself up with evidence. Make sure you don't forget you book, always do the homework, and take advantage of E.C.

Dr. Wilkinson is my favorite professor at SBCC. She pushed us to make real world connections to each piece of literature we read, so we constantly learned about life while also improving our writing and analytical skills. She's been through SO much in her life, and it's clearly reflected in her incredibly empathetic nature and her high intellect.

I think Ann is a real gem. I've learned so much through her course, she is a true literature connoisseur, witty and eloquent, someone who knows her subject deeply and someone who cares to deliver her material to students. She will challenge you but in a good way. I would happily take her course again.

I have struggled with every English class in my past and was hesitant to take this class, but for the most part all you have to do is read short stories and poems and write 4 essays total. She wont fail you if you at least turn in all of the essays! most of the lectures she talks and rambles about slightly related stories.. also very funny at times

Rigorous grader but she honestly helped me improve my writing skills. I took her 3 hr class and her lectures we're a little monotonous and felt more like fem studies lectures... BUT she's intelligent and has a law degree so she expects well-formulated essays. Also, if you can establish a rapport, she easier on you. Difficult but worth it, IMO.

Comment:
The lectures given by Wilkinson are probably the most futile and drawn-out lectures I've ever received. She does not do anything to make the class interesting, will not seriously accept ideas or opinions that are not her own, and her comments on papers (a max of 3, if you're lucky) are completely useless. Save your energy find someone better.

DONT TAKE HER SHAKESPEARE CLASS IF YOU CAN AVOID IT, boring lecture where she talks the whole time (if you disagree with her OPINION get ready to get shut down/bad grade) class attendance is mandatory the frustrating thing is you don't even need to attend/read the plays to pass since she spend more than half the semester playing the movies

The key element in this class is not just to do the assignments but try to get on her good side first thing. Ann is a very old school prof and although she keeps up with modern issues she does handle her class in a very traditional manner. Go to the lecturesguest speakers she suggests and talk about it in class, they help you write your essays

I asked for her to review my essay with me as her writing and marks were unclear, and she essentially insulted my writing saying I should be in ENG 80, when in reality I transferred from a University back home to SBCC. Only gives you 1 wk to write essays & will go off on tangents about her own life in her very quiet voice, confusing the class
