I would take a bullet in my leg for this man. He is the kindest teacher I have ever had, so excited about the material, always gives positive feedback as well as room for improvement. Always has a smile on his face and is happy to see you and share a pop from his mini fridge with you

Dr. Fankel is the worst teacher I've ever had. His class is super difficult because his notes are scrambled and don't make sense and he frequently gets off topic. He is not great with giving feedback on the one page papers he makes you write. He is a super hard grader and didn't give one A on our first paper just because it was the first. Avoid him

The Paris trip is the most enriching experience I ever had in my entire life! It is amazing how we discuss enlightenment concepts and then see them applied first hand! An amazing trip, with an amazing professor!

Dr. Frankel is a real gem. Most people gripe and moan about Philosophy, "like omg, what is the point?!" Because, does your future employer really care about the essence of justice? No. But the point is his classes will give you the verbal tools and the eloquent mastery needed to ace that interview. He is also kind and charming. Highly recommend

Steven Frankel is a nice. Attendance matters and be prepared to get called on. Relax though he is nice so don't worry about being berated in public. Seeing him after class helps especially on the first couple of papers. Would take again.

It is no secret that Steven Frankel is one of the best philosophy professors at XU. He teaches well and acts as a good mentor. As someone who once feared public speaking and spoke with a slight stammer, Steven Frankel gave me the confidence to speak out and express my once bottled ideas. He is very Dadish, in a genuine and loving way. Kind to all!

Dr. Frankel is a very good professor. I think a lot of students find philosophy to be boring and dry. Dr. Frankel proves the stereotypes wrong because he made learning 10000% better; he fuses humor with analytical reasoning - a perfect mix! He uses good anecdotes. Not even a philosophy major, but I would definitely take his class again 5/ 5!

As an education major who is looking for good role models for her future teaching career, I believe in my heart that Dr. Frankel is one of the best pedagogical figureheads at Xavier. He explains difficult concepts with lucid brevity so that the student can easily understand. He is as smart as he is kind. Oh, and he makes me LOLL literalllllly!!! :)

Dr. Frankel is the best instructor I have ever had. He is perpetually a dad to all. He'll always maintain an open mind and will do everything he can to help you. You do have to give him something to work with though, so don't expect to just easily get an A. 10/10 would recommend and would take again.

Dr. Frankel is a really nice guy and very knowledgable, but if you are not a philosophy major or part of the PPP program, it will be pretty difficult. He is used to grading honors students, so for those who are just taking this class for university core credit, I would take another professor. He grades papers hard so go into his office hours.

Attendance is mandatory, but Dr. Frankel made the lectures as fun as they could be. There aren't many assignments, but he is a harsh grader. It is pretty easy to get a C+, but extremely difficult to get an A.

He gives two papers, a midterm and final. Each paper is 3-4 pages, the midterm short answer, final an essay. He also expects 5 one-page summary of readings for participation, and if you do an additional 5 you receive extra credit. You do not need to read because he explains so well, BUT highlight and take good notes for midfinal. Very nice.

This was the best philosophy class I've taken. You honestly don't need to read for class (he'll explain everything), but make sure that you participate! If you don't, he'll just call on you anyway! Also for the papers, just straight quote the books! He loves multiple block quotes in your papers! It will get you an A!

Frankel is a really understanding professor. He's the kind of guy to help you out in tough spots. He has good office hours, gives extra credit every class, and tries his best to help us understand the course material. Two papers, two exams, loads of extra credit (do it, I promise). Good professor.

Put some effort on the 2 papers and a B is achievable. The grade consists of 2 papers, midterm, final, extra credit. The midterm&final are easy. Gives the questions beforehand. Take for sure

Dr. Frankel is a great teacher! He's extremely friendly and not only wants to teach the information but wants insight from his students as much as possible. But, if you don't know an answer, he won't criticize you either. Tough grader, but always willing to help. Take him!
