Despite the not so great reviews, I decided to take him. They were not off at all about how bad he is. Basically you don't learn anything in class and just use the online textbook to learn. He mumbles and reads off these not so great notes in class. Going to class seems useless when the textbook explains everything better than he does.

Dont take his class. He doesnt teach or lecture at all. You come to class to listen to him read key points off a word doc. You have to pretty much teach this class to yourself with him as a professor. The homework was not related to the lecture and the exams were 10x harder. He expects a lot from you but doesnt teach or lecture anything.

Basil knows everything there is to know about economics. He is a very intelligent professor with a good attitude and sense of humor. He expects you to read and come to class prepared. Almost all graded work is done online. He will answer your questions. The material is hard but he will make sure you understand it.

Not a good teacher whatsoever. I'm a pretty decent student who actually enjoys learning, but I expect the teacher to engage with students and in hopes wants you to pass the class. However, he is the complete opposite. He doesn't help you and expects you to know each chapter by showing the class a video. Worst teacher I have ever had.

This class was easy if you did the work. You should honestly take it online and not waste your time. His lectures have really to do with the quizzes and homework. He said there was gonna be math on the second exam and there was none so I'm not sure if he even looks at the tests before we take them. He was ok as a teacher if you asked a ? he'd answ

The syllabus was clear with due dates and expectations. If you are taking the 8 week course be prepared to read and keep up with the 4 discussions and myEconlab assignments. Beware he has 1/2 chapters due in week 4 and the other half in week 8. Not good at economics but got a B+ with minimal effort. Would take again if needed.

Awful. Closes assignments on the online HW before their due date, takes a long time to respond to you and class is always just bad presentations of a word document.

A very rough class. I studied every day but to pass with a high grade you need to work together as a class. Homework and class participation was not hard but you will need to study the material before showing up to class. Tests and quizzes are intense, be prepared.

Mr. Al-Hashimi was a good professor. I took him for Micro and Macro in the same semester and passed both courses. Don't come on here and cry because he laughs. He answers questions and if you don't understand his explanation, ask him to explain what part you don't understand. Class participation is a huge part of this class so, ask questions.

I looked him up before taking the class in the fall and thought even with the poor reviews I could do well. It was challenging with the way he grades and the point system he has set up. If an answer isn't 100% how he wants then it's incorrect. The final covered material that he said wouldn't be on the test. Would not take again or advise anyone to

I thought professor basil did a good job explaining the things we needed to know about the studies in MACRO. He is a little hard to understand cause of his hard ascent. He says if you study 30 minutes every day you will know the material. Yes, the coarse is not easy, its meant to teach you the concepts of global econ. as hard as mcc gets.

Not even sure if I even learned anything from his class. Expects you to read the textbook for 1-2 hours everyday. Very hard to understand and it seems like he gets mad or laughs at you when you ask a question or don't understand a concept. Had less than 20 assignments all semester, all worth very few points. I recommend a different professor.

This professor is not for everyone. He doesn't do much review, he expects you to read/learn one to two chapters (not everyone can learn that way), and if you mention you aren't given enough time for the tests or quizzes, he'll laugh at you. He did with me. He says we should have fun learning economics. He doesn't make it fun. His class is boring.

Here's the deal... you have to WANT to LEARN if you take this class. why else are you going to college??? He sets you up to learn the concepts. He is a good teacher. If you want an easy A? skip it. you have to work for your grade in this class, but you actually learn something if you do.

Very tough grader as there's very few exams and assignments overall. Lecture skims the majority of the contents of the textbook, rendering the textbook redundant if you understand the lecture. Places very high emphasis on your participation in class on your grade.

This is the only teacher rating I have ever done even though ive truly appreciated many of my past professors.. Its just that I strongly suggest to other students out there to NOT take this class . grading system sucks. There are better teachers out there for macro and I read the other reviews for Basil and theyre pretty accurate.

DO NOT TAKE ECONOMICS FROM BASIL! he is the worst teacher i've ever had. I am an A student and barely passed the class. I stopped asking questions because of how he belittles and laughs at you when you don't know something. He knows economics, but can't teach. If you don't want to teach yourself economics, don't take this class.
