Comment:

Dr. Hammer is one of my favorite professors at Augustana College. The lectures aren't that exciting, but everything he writes on the board will be on the tests, and he normally lets you out of class early from lectures and labs. The tests are easy as long as you study for them. Overall, a great professor and very funny.

Comment:

Dr. Hammer is one of my favorite professors at Augustana. He is very funny, super laid back, and usually lets us out of class early. The class isn't very hard if you pay attention in class, everything he writes on the board is on the test. Never assigns homework or reading, but I would definitely study well for the exams. Honestly love this guy

The guy knows that we're all taking Dinosaurs as a blow off class so it's really easy and he's funny. You still need to study for the midterm and final though.

He has a lot of reading, but they are completely optional because he only grades on things he lectures on in class. His tests seem extremely random make sure you take really good notes, and come in as much as you can for help. He will hep you if you ask, but if you don't ask, he doesn't make the effort. However, make sure you study for the tests.

Comment:

I took this class for the perspective (like most business and english majors do) and I loved it! You watch movies in labs, and he clearly explains what are on tests. Everything on the test he teaches in class. I only read the book to study parts for tests. We had no assignments, just 2 tests and a final exam grade.

Took Dinosaurs because I needed an easy PN. Dr. Hammer enjoys telling stories and bragging about his dinosaur. Once he realized most of us got a D or worse on the first test his lectures were more structured and useful. I suffered through this class because it was so boring. Don't take unless you like dinosaurs.

Dinos was pretty interesting at first but at times it gets boring. In labs you watch movies and look at dino bones/fossils. Only grades are the tests/lab attendance.

Well, I'm a C student and I got an A+ in this class. Half of the stuff he taught, I learned when I was 5 years old and loved dinosaurs! I don't know what the others are talking about because he taught everything in class that was on his super easy tests. He even curves the tests to where you can get a C and still get an A.

Hammer did absolutely nothing. I am a very good student and a very good test taker, and I struggled the entire term because he didn't teach me anything. I had to reteach myself everything from the book, which sucked when he went off book at the end of the term.

I am an A student, in fact, I've gotten multiple A+ during my time here at Augustana. He is incredibly useless, not willing to help his students. He relies on his T.A.s more often than he should. Don't take this class!

Prompt with answers to inquiries. Recognizes the little impressive things that an individual does. Class work is favored over home work. Straightforward. Direct. Pleasantly easy to get along with. Shows lots of sweet movies and multimedia presentations. Can easily get full lab credit by just showing up and going through the motions.

Unbelieveably boring; I fell asleep every class. I don't think he really knows about anything except dinosaurs, which is why he only talks about that (even in a class that's not supposed to be about dinosaurs all the time!). Hated the class pretty much.
