Really nice man, had him for GEMS 130. Didn't crack open the book and got an A-. Very reasonable with exams. Would definitely recommend for any non science majors!!

I took GEMS130 with him, he's a good guy and is clear about what he wants us to know, exams can be difficult. Showing up to class is big, though its not mandatory I highly recommend going. He is willing to help with whatever questions you have. He has a lot of extra credit options as well, which is big. Lab is good most of time, lots field trips.

He's a nice guy by all means, but the lectures are incredibly boring. For me, he never explained things well and I was constantly confused. He will help students for sure, but he goes very fast in class and talks pretty monotoned. I would maybe take a class of his in a smaller lecture setting.

The class felt like it could go on forever. Lecture is pointless and the tests are way too difficult. Graded irrationally on assignments. Overall one of the worst professors I have taken in my life. Avoid at all costs.

Dr Bodenbender is a really good professor. Although lectures can be long, he does his best to make them interesting for the students. His passion for geology is so clear and he's always willing to help with any little question you might have. He is really good at answering emails and describing things you do not understand. Take his class!!!
