Comment:
Brother Hauglid is very kind and caring. It is an easy class, but I didn't learn all that much, if anything. His test was surprisingly hard considering what was covered in class, but he curved it. I think if you want an easy, seminary type class he is a good pick, but if you want to learn more about the New Testament maybe pick someone else.

Nice guy, but his lectures were terrible--not very spiritual or educational. He didn't teach much doctrine. Would often lead discussions about obscure topics and overemphasize insignificant verses of scripture. Easy class, but I didn't learn squat.

For a two credit class, there is quite a bit of homework, but overall, I really enjoyed this class. The books are needed to pass, and there's a lot of reading, but it isn't that hard. I learned so much about Judaism and Islam, and Brother Hauglid does a very good job of teaching Judaism and Islam in a clear manner.

Geez. Horrible. Several times someone would ask: "Is it like this or this?" and he would point, say "Yes" and move on. Other times students would say stuff that's not doctrinally correct and he wouldn't say anything, just say "oh maybe you're right" when clearly they weren't. Only about 200 points and most from the tests, miss a question grade shot

Prof. Hauglid doesn't deserve the bad rap. I'm taking Survey of World Religions from him and it's really easy. A little eccentric but a super nice man: today I was 20 mins. late and at the end of class he let me take the quiz I missed. There's a fair amount of reading, but you don't have to read to do well. The tests are basic. He takes attendance.

i've taken 2 classes from him and i have enjoyed them both, tests are difficult, but they are open book. they are hard to find, but all the answers are there. i took my time and did well on every test. attendance mandatory, easy hw, nice guy, he knows his stuff and i enjoyed the lectures, they had a good balance between spiritual and academic

One of my least favorite professors of my entire college career. Horrible teacher, lecturer, test writer, you name it. Picks his favorite students and doesn't care about anyone else. Not impressed.

Seems like a pretty nice guy, but his lectures were absolutely dull and lifeless. I ended up going because attendance was mandatory but doing homework for other classes to stay awake. His tests are online and open note, but difficult and time consuming. Didn't enjoy the class and hardly learned anything.

Gave meandering, dull lectures that never seemed to have any definitive information. When asked questions about the material, he offered pat, simplistic, or evasive answers, and honestly didn't seem to have many independent or original thoughts on the subject. Tests are almost exclusively based on the reading, which definitely tripped me up.

He's a nice man, but lecture was disappointing. I don't feel like I learned much about Islam, or that Bro. Hauglid knew much about it. No study guides for tests, which seem like they had been written by someone else. Treated the topic very lightly, even disrespectfully.

Test questions were obscure, answers were according to his opinions. Was not very open to talk with students and work with them. Homework was just a reading journal which is easy enough, but most points came from tests that were ridiculous.

After the first midterm I learned that this Professor is more of a fan of researching the P of GP than teaching by the Spirit. False Doctrine out the wazoo and I had to leave the class one day because I didn't feel the spirit at all. Tests are about small facts. Don't take the class from this Professor. Papers easy, keep up on reading.

Brother Hauglid is nice, but that's all. I went to class every time and dreaded it. And it didn't help on the tests. We had two online, open book tests that were ridiculously hard. He asks for tiny details from class that he barely mentioned. You have to do weekly writings which is easy. Boring lectures. I didn't learn much.

I really enjoyed taking this class from Brother Hauglid. The class discussions were engaging, and I learned alot, but the comments about the tests are true, you have to write down literally everything he says in class to do well. Don't rely on the powerpoints even though you can use them on the test.

Do not take this professor. He is by far the worst teacher I have had at BYU. You will not learn a thing and your grade will suffer.

Not a bad professor until exams. His tests are retarded. impossible to know the answer to. every test he sends out a hate email telling everyone to quit complaining; even if you have textual evidence that you answer is acceptable. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR.

Pretty interesting lectures but and easy pass/fail writing assignments but the midterm came out of nowhere and was the hardest test I had taken all year, even with being open note on blackboard! Seems to go off on tangents a lot with no real purpose to them.

Be prepared for false doctrine and arguing with any one who disagrees, also the tests are all about semantics and novelties, nothing really useful, I have always had good religion teachers before so I know what their like, I wish I would have taken this class from anyone else where I might have learned something useful

He's a nice enough person but not a very good teacher. His lessons have no purpose or focus and he flounders through the time. I don't think I learned anything and I don't understand the new testament any better.
