I took this class before this website existed, so I think that he's retired now. He was tough, and not too nice (see pp about him thinking of himself as a god). I worked very hard, and it was still tough.

Great prof, and those who disagree don't know what they're talking about. Deciphering his scatter-brained lectures was something to look forward to because his interest in the subject really rubs off on you.

Dr. Matson loves fish - it's kind of sweet to see his passion for crabs and salmon and so on. High expectations as far as memorizing archaeological site data goes - it challenged me. Very nice guy but his classes sometimes felt too long...Really loves archaeology.

It's disgusting that this man has been teaching for so long. His reviews of term papers were rude and impersonal, and I could have learned more about archaeology from any given issue of TV guide.

by the time the midterm hit it made me wonder: what course have I been taking for the questions had little relevance to the readings. I suppose i was supposed to deduce some sort of information from his scattered notes and useless lectures.

If you look for the word 'random' in the dictionary, you'll find a picture of his notes beside it.

Condescending, devoid of any interpersonal skills, out of touch with his students, inconsiderate, not open to any new ideas at all, and the worst lecturer in my 4 year degree. By far the worst prof I've ever had.

Wow, the worst notes ever. Puts up random words on the overhead and never defines them. So confusing.
