Comment:
Dr. Baldi was super nice and understanding this quarter given our difficult circumstances. She really tried her best to make learning as stress-free as possible which I greatly appreciate. One of the most caring teachers I've met at UCI and is always there for help if you need it.

Baldi has very interactive lecture videos and tries to do what is best for the class. However, she made a test due memorial day weekend and lots of students begged her to change the due date. She also opened the test late Friday evening, thus forcing us to work on the test during the holiday.

Because of this remote instruction, her class is super easy. There's no proctored exams and she gives us three days to complete her tests. Her video quizzes are tedious, but not difficult at all. She definitely does put some tricky questions on her tests bc of the wording, but the class is doable if you put in the effort.

Subpar lecturer. If accents make learning hard for you, avoid Baldi. Lectures are delivered through prerecorded videos where she blazes through convoluted conceptual content. I had to rewind a 5 minute video 2-3 times to write down everything.

Professor Baldi was an okay lecturer. Most of the learning was done through the online videos so you're pretty much on your own for that part. In person lectures were heavily just clicker questions for participation/attendance. Her tests are exactly like the practice tests she posts. Ended up with an A because she gave A LOT of extra credit stuff

I have been a student and a TA for her STATS 7 class. She doesn't possess the adequate depth of knowledge to teach a Statistics class. She just co-authored a book that she barely contributed (fact) She also isn't careful with her wording, which brings massive confusion during exams, but she doesn't like to accept her mistakes to give back points.

Class is structured so that the material is learned prior to lecture via videos, while actual lectures consist of practice problems as she guides you through them. Videos is basically all the material you need. Do the HW & take detailed lecture notes. Utilize prac. midterms to become comfortable w/ her wording and structure. imo, easy B but hard A.

She is actually a pretty good lecturer. She explains the content in a clear way and reinforces hard to understand topics. Very helpful when answering questions and very interactive in class. There are two midterms and a final with some extra credit. You do have to attend lectures because she has clicker questions. Overall tho, it was a great class.

I really recommend you not take this course if possible. The exams themselves are not that difficult but the graders are really strict. Doing the practice problems help somewhat but there are lots of tricks on the actual exam. Expensive, difficult hw and mandatory lectures and discussions. There is also no curve. Save your GPA and take someone else

Lecture is mandatory and she doesnt even teach. You and your neighbors are left staring blankly at each other. Attitude towards students is terrible. Averages are very low.

Useless teaching. You have to teach yourself. Watching the video is not enough to finish the homework. She just read the powerpoint. Nothing useful. Waste a lot of time on things have taught. Repeat things that have just said. Totally waste of time. Useless quiz every week.

Lectures are useless, this class will require hours of work all for a GE class. Loads of weekly homework and quizzes about boring videos. Avoid if you can, there is NO curve either.

The topic itself is boring, plus with the lectures it really made learning a dread! I didn't have any fun or enthusiasm learning which contributed to low test scores. Miss one question on the exam almost a full letter grade drop. No curve. Expensive sapling purchase with tricky hw questions. Not clear explanations. Most students just sleep.

Too much homework. The homework is very tricky. A lot of traps. Some of them irrelevant to the knowledge. The homewor do not have clear instructions. Lose score because of some boring technical issues. Do not teach a lot during the lecture. You need spend a lot of time watching the videos. The key points in the video is very difficult to capture

Her class was straight forward but i definitely recommend another teacher for stats. I never learned from her/her lectures and always ended up teaching myself. She does provide practice midterms, but they're easier than her actual exams. Homework problems do not reflect the ones she focuses on or puts on her exams.

She explained the concepts super clearly and gave detailed examples. 2 midterms, 1 final, 6 quizzes, 9 hw. 4 samples for each exam. The exams are not that easy cause there are some tricks. But if you go over all the samples and make a summary about the errors, you will be fine. She also gave us about 10 extra credits which helped a little bit.

No curve, but she gives several extra credit opportunities to make up for missed points. Her tests are exactly like her old ones (which she posts online), so if you go over her slides and do the practice tests, you should be all set! She is a good lecturer and doesn't make you do any hand calculations. Great intro to stats professor!
