Professor Dowdy gives amazing feedback when it comes to the second half of the semester, she allows students to really lead their own small groups. Pay attention to the class lectures and take notes on the books, you are only graded on 1 test and it counts for a big percentage of your grade. But she is very helpful if you need it.

She is a great person and loves being a teacher, but she does not know how to teach. 95% of the class time is you talking and presenting chapters out of the reading. She just confirms or denies your analysis. Take her if you was to read the books or listen to the rest of the class talk. Want someone to actually teach you? Take Darrel Pearson!

Well intended...but so geared towards the urban environment that she almost discredits other cultures. The grading is always subjective, so that definitely worried me.

Hi, i've had Calenthia for living and learning, small groups, and youthmin in an urban setting and she is definitely an awesome person with a passion for urban youth min and has a different perspective. highly recommend her!

The class stunk. It was supposed to be Ministry with Troubled Youth, but was more like Ministry with Troubled Urban Youth. She told people to change their opinions on their papers because they didn't agree with her. The list could go on...

Makes small groups a real class. The mid-term is killer, but other than that she's great. I've heard others hate her teaching style because it is very different, but I like it.
