Catherine knows what she's talking about, but cannot relay that information to her students. She showed up late to 3/4 of the classes during the semester, didn't really tell us when things were due, and had the most confusing lectures I've ever heard. Avoid this class, or be ready when you enter to be extremely angry.

Over the entire semester she was late to every class, sometimes up to 50 minutes! For only teaching one class, she doesn't treat the class or students as a priority. She didn't have a syllabus ready for a previous class I was forced to have with her and when we started this class in the winter-BIG SURPRISE-she didn't have one ready either. Bad prof

Worst professor of my 4 years at KU. She is way past her prime. I hope she retires so others don't have to feel her rath. Don't take ANY classes. She says "umm and umm" more then she teaches. Trust me. Dont waste your time!

Absolutely loved her! She was a pretty easy grader and did not demand too many things for papers or tests. If you show up to class and take notes then you will definitely do well. Some readings assigned for each week, but they were not very long or difficult. Nicest professor ever& no busy work! She is really interested in her topic and knows tons!

Class was so confusing, teacher took forever to set up movies and power points. Lectures were boring, a lot of info I already knew. Seemed very unorganized. I will do my best to not take any of her classes again. She seems nice, I just went through my GTA for any problems.

She's a media professor and couldn't work PowerPoint, a projector, or windows media player. Every lecture turns into politics. Lecture was never on topic. She also has a short temper and is really rude to people who don't understand.

Preston is the most **** teacher at KU. I felt I was screwed prior to taking the class on the sole fact that I am a male. Completely unhelpful. She doesn't even have a film degree!

I would rather pour tabasco sauce in my eyes and eat broken glass while being run over by a semi-truck repeatedly and being kicked in the face by the Rockettes for seven hours than take this teacher again. She blows chunks. Hard.

Comment:

Catherine is exceptionally helpful and friendly but her classes are a disaster. Her expertise is too narrowly focused (gay/feminist film) and it drifts over into all of her classes. Her lectures are long and non-interactive, her delivery is dry, and she does a very poor job of explaining complex theories to the uninitiated. Although I too am a liberal, I got very tired of having politics being dragged into film discussion. I do not think she likes film at all.
