one word to describe dr. garrison is AWFUL! he is extremely boring and does not know how to teach! he is VERY unclear in what he is looking for on papers and other assignments. he is the worst teacher i have ever had. do not take his class

Comment:

He's a good teacher as long as you are reading the text. He goes off a lot of what the text is saying, so READ THE BOOK! Tests are short essay, some multiple choice and true false included which you can find at the end of chapters. Kinda boring, but easy to understand. If you do all this, you'll at least get a B.

Probably the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. I have never failed a class in my life, and I failed his class. He has only 4 tests and there all short answer and essay format questions. Dr. Garrison is one of the most boring human beings on this earth, he does not care about you at all. He doesn't teach anything. Don't take his class!!!!!

I loved Dr. Garrison! His class was the easiest ive taken in my history at ECU and he's completely sweet. He's quiet which is mistaken for boring and the reason he seems unclear is because he has the audacity to assume his students are reading the text. I read, understood perfectly and I still apply things I learned in his class to my major...A+

I took him for Sociology of Religion. It was a particular favorite of mine. I actually enjoyed his humor and he's not as bad as the comments sound. I checked ratemyprofessors.com before signing up and I'm glad I didn't listen to the comments about this prof, otherwise I would have missed a great class! Sign up!

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. IT'S SO BORING AND YOU WILL FALL TO SLEEP. THE QUESTIONS FROM THE TEST COME FROM ONLINE SO MAKE SURE YOU DO THEM ONLINE B/C IT'S THE SAME EXACT QUESTIONS. BUT THE ESSAYS ARE HARD. YOU HAVE TO REALLY PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS TO GET THE ESSAYS RIGHT AND THAT'S HARD WHEN THE CLASS IS BORING. AND HE CHECK ATTENDANCE EVERYDAY.

Dr. Garrison is really boring and not very direct. DO NOT get caught using your phone in class or with a computer, he takes points off your final grade. He is kind of old so some of the comments he makes are cenial. I did not enjoy his class and had trouble staying awake. If you can help it, take a different teacher.

All i have to say is ZzZzZzZz........ i took this man at 8am i thought i was going to commit suicide!! he is sooo boring it is impossible to pay attention. we started with a full class of 50 and now when i go to class there is like 15 of us. Run as fast as you can DONT TAKE HIM!!!

I liked him. The tests were somewhat hard, but not if you read the books and attended class. I learned a lot in the class. He can be boring at times but he's a nice guy and he attempts to add humor to the class which helps. If you want to take a class where you actually learn something then I would take him.

Nice man....can be confusing most of the time. I struggled with the class, because it is hard to know exactly what to study b/c he is not very direct. Attendence is a grade so come to class and make sure you keep up with your work or you will be overwhelmed at the end. I do not recommend this class.

He was a nice guy, incorporated his stories into his lecture...at times the class was boring...although we did watch movies...the tests are easy if you look at the multiple choice online...and pay a bit of attention to the main points he goes over in class...you have to go to class! He's a nice guy tho!

He is an older Professor who lectures often. He's not very enthusiastic and the class can be boring. Attendence is somewhat mandatory because you get points based on attendance and participation. Study guides on blackboard are not very helpful because he changes up the tests too much. Your study guide may not match the test you recieve.

This was the WORST class that I have ever taken in my entire life!! He was the most boring monotone teacher and did not teach ANYTHING that was on the tests. Also, he has mandatory attendance and a participation grade which you must talk in class to earn. He grades the essays on tests very difficultly and unfairly. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF AT AL

Horrible professor, do not take. Doesnt cover the material in his lectures. Basically Impossible to get in touch with. Attendance is mandatory and you get counted off on your final grade for every absense. Participation is required and its very difficult to recieve a good grade unless you raise your hand 1000 times a class.

He's a nice guy, but the class is really not done well. I loved sociology before I took this class. He has a mandatory attendance policy and takes attendance every day. He likes to go off on random tangents. His study guides are for his lecture only and do not cover the stuff you should know in the book. His tests come from the book's website.

This class is very hard and not for slackers! It takes concentration and interest to succeed. He is monotone and very elusive when he lectures..but it helps to ask questions and participate. The whole point of sociology is to think and thats what he teaches you to do.
