There is definitely a lot to read, but it's an English class so it makes sense. I really enjoyed the way class was "taught." It's mostly class discussion with other students (graded) and you learn a lot from other's points of view and opinions. She's super sweet and funny. No midterms and just a final paper. Your reading notes are graded too.

You need to write about a topic from mentored research or something professors in your field are studying. Not just a topic you're interested in. Your paper needs to be "useful". Course material is complexly organized (ex. the schedule was in the contents tab of LS). She is very sarcastic.

Her assignment criteria is pretty confusing and difficult to find, and the assignments are long and tough to complete on time. However, the good news is that Cheri is a very generous grader. If you do your work she will almost always give you full credit. Pretty much everyone in the class gets an A.

Dr. Earl was by far my favorite professor I've had at BYU. She's funny, relatable, and really cares about her students. She understands when things come up and isn't one of those professors who gets on a power trip. She gives great feedback on writing and really wants to help her students be the best they can be.

Cheri was awesome. I really liked her as a person, but since I strongly dislike writing, I didn't enjoy going to class much. Cheri is a good choice if you're just trying to get the credit because it's easy to get an A, but I didn't like the papers we wrote and I didn't feel like I improved as a writer. Final group paper and presentation was fun!

Cheri made ENG316 a very enjoyable experience. She gives phenomenal feedback. For our major project, the literature review, she broke down due date for each section, thereby making the courseload doable. Lenient grading--participation. If you turn in assignments late or miss class, your grade lowers. Attend class and do your work, and you are set.

Made a required class I was dreading tons of fun. Cheri gives all students plenty of time to finish assignments as well as multiple chances to edit papers before getting graded. Hard not to get a good grade unless you don't show up for class and submit assignments on time (but she often pushed the deadlines back so you had plenty of time)

Writing 150 with Cheri Earl was amazing! I loved this class. The workload is very reasonable and definitely interesting. The class was challenging at times, but was certainly nothing unmanageable. Cheri puts a lot of effort into giving helpful and personal feedback! She is very willing to work with students based on their personal needs.

Ive never liked wtg classes, but loved wtg 150 with Cheri. Its a tough class, but she doesn't assign pointless assignments. She puts an outstanding effort into giving you personal feedback on each assignment and changes each class according to students needs. Grading is fair and largely based on effort (only 2 grades in section lower than an A-).

Cheri was the best WRTG 150 teacher ever! All of my friends who took this course by other teachers really struggled and felt as if they didnt learn anything but she will slow down the course and the assignments to make sure you can write a good essay. She was so helpful every time I would talk to her she would give great advice. Super helpful!

Cheri Earl is an amazing professor! She takes in to account the needs of the class as a whole a adjusts her curriculum accordingly. She prioritizes understanding and growth rather than quantity and deadlines. She will challenge you, but will simultaneously provide great feedback, helping you become a better writer. 10/10 would take again.

I had Cheri for WTRG 150, you learn some good lessons, but she was just too scattered and unfocused for me. We would turn in our paper and she would think about something else she would want done on it, have us redraft, and repeat. We did at least 7 drafts on one paper, so if you like that, she is the teacher for you.

I love Sister Earl. I added her Literature of the LDS class last-minute during the add/drop deadline because I needed to fill a GE and a different class didn't work out. It was the best last-minute add I've ever had. Small class size, fun teacher, interesting material, what more do you want out of a GE? Her personality is wonderful. Take her class!

Seriously DO NOT TAKE WRTG 150 from Cheri. She claims that everything is an argument and that you can take whatever perspective you want on an essay, but it's clear that she has a desired point of view for you to take, and if you don't take it she simply will not accept your paper, or your point of view on an issue. Good person, Bad teacher

Sister Earl is incredible! She leads the Insight Magazine class really well and makes it a positive experience for everyone! The magazine is really very student directed, and Sister Earl is the perfect mentor--stepping in to help guide us students when needed. This class is incredible and so rewarding. Take it!

Awesome class and awesome teacher. Sister Earl is very helpful, funny, and keeps the class engaged. You do read a lot for this class and write several short essays (Historical Context responses), but I thought I learned a lot from the reading and essays. Just keep up with the reading and you'll be good.
