Comment:
AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! Don't take his class if you're interested in learning Calculus. I honestly can't comment as to his knowledge of the subject, as his lack of skill as a teacher prevented it from coming across.

Dr. Sherman is an older gentleman. His arrogance is what makes this class difficult. He flies through examples and stands in front of them after hes done. Calc I isn't hard, just study, a lot. Most test questions come from book, and Dr. Reidd. He sometimes doens't finish class examples. He curved the test 5% each time. I would avoid if i was you.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU HAVE ANY TROUBLE WITH MATH!!!! he barely finishes his examples and tells you not to do problems like the book says. the only points you get are from the tests and if you dont do it his way you wont get the points, EVEN IF YOU GET THE RIGHT ANSWER!

Nearly always late to class. When attempting to explain something, he would say, "Any dufus could figure this out" and not take the time to explain it. When he actually did explain something in class, it was decent. Do not take this teacher if you actually want to learn something. Two thumbs down.

Very very very unorganized. The only points in this class are the test. Seems to not care about his students, comes off as being unapproachable. If you struggle with math at all stay away from this professor.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. HE CAN BE HELPFUL IN HIS OFFICE MORE THAN ONE VISIT, IF YOU CAN FIND HIM. VERY UNORGANIZED. I HATE THIS CLASS.

Clay Sherman was not the most punctual of professors but it was my experience that when he was in front of the classroom teaching the material, it was absolutely crystal clear. I loved this class. Yes, he would rather be researching than teaching but he does his job.

Sherman is the worst teacher I have ever had, and that's saying something. He's completely organized, was late himself to every class, and makes no sense in teaching. Half of the class failed because of him. Don't ever send him an email, either, because no matter how polite you are, he'll be callous and rude with you in return.

If you attend class and take notes, you'll do fine. The material isn't difficult. He assigns homework for practice but doesn't ask for it to be turned in. But be sure to study for tests, they are your only points.

worst teacher Ive had in college. I can never get mysef to go to class because I can just sit at my house and not learn anything, which is basically all you do in his class. Be prepared to teach yourself, and study hard for the tests but otherwise homework is useless cuz he doens't explain it to you

Pretty average teacher. His tests were pretty average, maybe half easy gimme problems (stuff from the lower numbered problems in the text) and half were tougher(higher numbered problems). He did plenty of examples in class. I wouldn't try to avoid him but I wouldn't go out of my way to take a class with him.

This class is of course hard because it is calculus, but he isn't a bad teacher. He gets a little confused in his old age but he really is able to teach. I took Calc in high school and he definitely was a lot better than my high school teacher. I suggest taking him for Calc.

Sherman is a pretty tough grader and requires you to be very precise. However, since this is a course in proofs, precision is very important. I do feel that we spent a little too much time on simple material, which meant we didn't have time to cover more complicated stuff. He can be occassionally funny though.

I've had alot of math teachers in the past and he is by far the worst I've ever had. Math problems consist of multiple steps to complete the equation and math teachers usually knock off points for the steps wrong. Dr. Sherman shaves as many points off an equation as he can. Once I had the correct answer but got 3 out of 10 because i set it to zero

He can certainly be confusing at times, but for the most part he keeps the material simple and to the point. He tends to reteach A LOT which is helpful when exam time comes. The tests are fairly easy with a bit of studying. The final was outrageously long, so be prepared for 2 hours of proofs.

Mostly everyone in my class is failing, he doesnt make sense, and doesnt follow the book nor what the other 130 classes are doing. If you ever get a chance to visit him in his office beware that it is the most unorganized, messiest thing you will ever see. I am a usually an A student in math and am struggling to get a C. not recomended!

Sherman is a typical math teacher, meaning that he is hard to follow. I had fun in the class, but it was pretty boring. Make sure that you follow the book, its what taught me.
