Group project is the majority grade for this class that you need to start from the beginning of the semester. His instructions are very clear for the project, A LOT of outside classroom work on top of regular teaching instruction. He expects you to put all effort into this project. He is accessible outside of the classroom for feedback

Loved his class. Never boring, he tells funny stories that help you remember the info. Go to class-take notes or it'll be tough. Tests are hard but he says what will be on them, just study. Super down to earth guy easy to talk to & get ahold of. 10/10 would take a course taught by him again, highly recommend. 3 test, 1 group project, online hw's

14 Discussion posts, 2 exams, one project (12 page paper and brochure). Doesn't sound bad except the two exams are way too difficult for a 300 level course. Gives you 90 minutes and even states in the syllabus that this isn't enough time unless you know the material to a key. Very tough grader at that. Hardest communication class I've ever taken.

I originally was in his online class and switched out. I wish I stayed because he grades a lot easier online. However, in class hes a decently tough grader and you really need to study. Work load isn't too bad. group project is decently easy. HE makes class really interesting and is understanding and conversational. Interesting class

Tyson was one of my favorites this year. Class is lecture heavy but he's really passionate about this subject and makes it interesting as long as you pay attention. STUDY FOR TESTS- that's my biggest piece of advice. Lots of material. The group project is annoying but you can opt out and do an individual essay instead.

Tyson is a great professor who knows a lot about persuasion theory. His lectures are not on powerpoints or in blackboard so you need to pay attention to get all the information. There are a ridiculous amount of discussion board posts, three exams, and a semester group research project. As long as you go to every class and take notes you'll be fine.

Nice guy. Keyword: STUDY. Lots of material so make sure you understand what your learning and write notes. This online class is a bit tough but if you pace yourself and again study you should be fine. I would advise reading each chapter to get full understanding. There was a midterm, final, 10-15 page paper, and 14 message board post.

Took for major. One group project approx. 15-20 pgs. long. A LOT of online work, 4-5 exams (not the easiest... STUDY!!). Personally, I wouldn't take him again, nor would I would recommend him.

Great professor! Made a boring class interesting. He lectured, but talked about his life and real life examples to help. Only hw was 10 online discussions, completed at your leisure. Problem is, not many grades so if you mess up one exam, hard to get an A. Study well, be thorough in your answers/ know key words. You'll pass easily. Would take again

Professor Tyson honestly just wants you to understand the material and pass, he is able to get his lectures across through anecdotes. Take notes during them and you'll understand the theory so much easier. He's a funny guy and always seems to be in a good mood

Dr. Tyson's sense of humor is misunderstood by most students. He's hilarious, though! He makes the material easy to learn by telling real life stories that are entertaining. If you need help, just ask him, he'll gladly help you out.

He was easy. People who didn't like him may have just been slackers because he really wants everyone to pass. You might not realize that in the beginning but you will. He tells exactly what to study for multiple choice and gives you the essay qs so honestly if you fail it's because you didn't even try. he gives everyone As or Bs on the paper.

Interesting professor lectures are interesting. Uses the book, but argues with the book and makes things extremely confusing when it comes to exams. The book says one thing but Tyson claims the book is wrong and refuses to use a different text.

Class was ok. Only issue was the constant liberal campaigning. Not sure why he felt the need to impose his political views on us all the time. Its not like we could disagree and expect to get a good grade; Probably insecurity in his own beliefs

If you're into the "lecturer" style of professors, this is the guy to take. He can talk about a topic and weave in interesting stories in a way that really works. He also doesn't put up with athletes well and will call them out when they don't pay attention, which is always pretty funny to watch. Midterm, final, and two group projects. Great guy!

Great teacher. Makes lectures interesting and makes you want to listen to him. Group projects are fun (unless you end up doing all the work...like I did), but they are an easy A if you do the work. There's only 2 exams and he curves on the 'z-score' so it's hard to know what your grade is, but the group project helps improve the grade. Fun class.
