Darren is a god among men. Easily one of the best professors here at UA. I bow down to him in my free time and write sonatas dedicated to his greatness. There's no other way to describe him; he's top notch. The only problem is C++ sucks but we can't have everything in the world.

Darren knows the content extremely well, as he also works as a developer. However, sometimes his expectations are too high and it's hard to understand the lectures if you're not a natural programmer. He's very nice and helpful if you can get a hold of him, and no matter how hard the class is, he makes sure you get an A as long as you try.

Learning to program is a lot different from other classes, but Darren really helps you to learn through practice, which helps a lot. Make sure you stay on top of things and you really shouldn't worry. Takes attendance every day but very understanding if you are sick, and it's easy to get notes from other CBH students

Definitely my favorite class first semester! Darren is very funny and makes learning Fortran exciting and interesting. Even for computer novices, he made everything manageable. There are short quizzes at the beginning of the semester but they are not bad if you put in the work. Don't be afraid to ask Darren and the upperclassmen questions!

Darren's incredibly respectful, patient, and a great teacher who wants you to succeed. He gives you a few quizzes throughout the semester to keep you on your toes, but that's about it. I went in not knowing how to code anything and came out as a somewhat competent coder. Try hard in his class and you will be rewarded.

This was a difficult course. I'm not sure how I feel about the way Darren teaches. There is not much structure, and you will often be given random quizzes throughout the semester. You'll do fine if you read the textbook. I made an A, but only because my final project was pristine. Good luck!

You dont a choice in the instructor but thats a not a bad thing. Darren is really great and funny but is very strict about his coding. HE LOVES CAPITAL LETTER FOR NO REASON. Just go to class, write notes and stay on task or you will hear the SPEECH. Also dont be that guy. You know the one who thinks he knows everything about computers.

Darren is really awesome. Yeah, the project is hard, but he's almost always around to help during project time. He's incredibly funny during class. Suggestion: study for your quizzes, as they are a determining factor in your final grade!
