He is not clear on what he wants on papers. You do what he asks and you are still wrong. Its almost impossible to get an A on anything in his class and he will tell you that from the start. If you care about your GPA do not take him.

Harshfield was an interesting man. He was a little vague in lecture, but if you ask for help you get it! He was very flexible under certain circumstances. at the end of the semester (under his discretion) he usually bumps up grades by .5 which was awesome! get on his good side and stay on his good side.

Horrible teacher. It's almost impossible to get an "A" on any assignment. He will review your paper, tell you to make changes, then find more things wrong with the paper once you turn it in. He talks badly about his students and shouldn't be a teacher. He enjoys giving students bad grades and will tell you this. Do not take his class!

This professor, in my opinion, is not fit to teach!! He made it known that the only grade to strive for is a C. Due to the fact that he does not give out A's. He also stated that he was homeless,why that matters, I have no idea. He doesn't teach. He will read essays in class and belittle the writer in front of everyone. Good Luck to you!!!

Seriously the worst teacher I have ever had. If you value your work, and work especially hard for your grades, he's not your man. The harder you try, the more he will devalue your work. But on the other hand, if you don't give it your all, you will fail for sure.

Mr. Harshfield pushed my buttons too far. I could never get anything correct, I didn't receive one A in his class. One paper it would be the format and the other paper it would be something else. Nothing was EVER right! I suggest you take someone else. Nice guy, but I don't exactly recommend him!

I started out appreciating his odd sense of humor, but then his teaching style got in the way of any like-ability he possessed. If you want to learn, and get a good grade, I suggest you go with another professor. His grading is incredibly harsh, and his classes somewhat pointless... you will spend all of your time stressing out.

Very raspy, ratty voice. Smart fellow, was available and helpful when necessary. Also was quite funny at times. Ridiculously nitpicky grader however, it was incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to get a perfect score on anything.

I usually would not complain about a teacher, but he is terrible. I like english and the class was always off track, while he laughed at his own jokes. He is a very harsh grader and would never give me an explination of what he was expecting. Got a 2.5, but took a different teacher for 102 and got a 4.0! DO NOT TAKE HIM!

great man,crappy professor.No text book,but heavy notes.Papers graded on personal oppinion.Tests are on notes from text from notes.I spent countless hours on papers, recieved a 4.0 in 101, and barely passed with a 2.5 in 102.Said at beg. "if you get a 4. in this class you will be lucky.Most get2.0 which is average,and u should be happy to pass.

I learned more in his class than any teacher. He tought me how to provide with more detail and proper grammar. He didn't just telll you to write an essay, he explained everything. I would take his class again.
