Get ready to give a ton of presentations about every other week. Easy going about it though and gives advice. Odd wordage on some of his tests though, it can get confusing. Uses a lot of metaphors. Overall very good and organized, which is highly lacking in this department.

Dr. McGarva is one of the best at DSU. His rating should be much higher but alot of University students do not like to work hard and study and Dr. Mcgarva requires that. Tests are hard but he is willing to help if you ask for it but, not as much patience for students who skip class then show up on test day whining.

Social Phsyc is the toughest of his classes, but I beleive thats what he got his PH.D in so I think thats why. He was a really good teacher, but his test suck. YOu have to study a lot to do well. And class attendance is mandatory.

Overall a good class. Tests aren't necessarily hard as long as you do the reading and pay attention in class. The videos can sometimes put you to sleep, though.

Requires a lot of work outside of class in order to do well, but he is very nice. Good sense of humor (sometimes a little weird, but still funny lol). If you're not really interested in the subject and you still have to do all the work, it kinda sucks...But what do you do??? Enjoyed the teacher, the subject was a little dull for my taste.

This man is VERY hot. But he knows it and that's annoying. As a professor, he is good but his tests are very hard.

Tough but knowledgable! Classes are interesting but Dr. McGarva is one of the least understanding and helpful professors I have ever had.

His lectures are fun and really informative! But be aware of his tests!! He has been known to not revise his tests/study guides to fit the new editions of the book. Some of his clothes are uh.. strange.. like the Elvis costume at Halloween...

I never found studying the brain so entertaining! Expect to study A LOT, but you will have lots of fun in his class. Equally entertaining besides his teaching style is his style of clothing (he owns and wears pink shorts sometimes!).
