Comment:
Dr. Lewis has a strong Australian sense of humor, which can be confusing if you aren't ready for sarcasm. He is a tough grader, but is absolutely brilliant. If you take the time to talk to him/get to know him, it can make your class a lot easier. Even though he can come off a bit stern/angry at first, he really does care about his students.

AVOID! I can't fit how terrible of a prof he is. He doesn't teach at intro level and punishes students for his mistakes. His lectures are irrelevant, office hours leave me more confused, and exams are unreasonably difficult. Most students fail his exams and all he does is curve so he won't get fired. Do yourself a favor and avoid him at all costs!

The only reason I did well in this class was because of the different format for having it online. You have quizzes weekly that are hard and uses iclickers. The lecture itself is hard because the information he writes down he expects students to understand it instantly from barely explaining it. He also barely gives you time to do the iclicker ?s

Avoid at all costs if taking CHEM 105. Tests were unbelievably hard, he is completely disorganized and you will suffer if you take class with him. You will be confused in lecture and he will be unavailable/ useless when trying to get help. Class average on most tests was around 50%. Extremely challenging and frustrating

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROF. AVOID!! He makes this class impossible to pass. His lectures make no sense and the tests are nothing like the practice problems. He doesn't know how to run canvas. He is probably to the worst prof at EC. Prepare to be entirely confused and not have any clue what he's talking about cause he doesnt know how to teach.

Absolute worst prof I've ever had. Made me feel hopeless & stupid. The questions he writes for his exams make no sense & you can only understand them if you were in his head. For lectures he is super unorganized & writes out the information in a notebook & you copy it down. You can try everything to do well in this class but he makes it impossible.

I am unsure why the university has not taken action for his poor teaching. Long and confusing lectures leaving you unclear on what you just learned. If you want a decent understanding of chemistry and a good grade DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HIM.

If you are taking Organic chemistry, then you probably need it in order to graduate and if he is the only professor that is teaching it, DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HIM. He is the WORST professor the university has to offer. He doesn't care if you are passing, his notes are horrible and can never read them, and his exams are nothing like the notes.

Generally a very rude and angry professor, clearly he does not care very much about student comprehension. He treated this class as something which was intrinsic knowledge and failed to do his duty to teach mid and upper level organic chemistry effectively, or at all for that matter. Avoid at all costs.

Dr. Lewis, at first seemed like hewouldn't be that bad. He knows he is a tough grader so he curves the grade to help you succeed. However, he is super unorganized, very unclear about exam material, due dates, and lab content. He is super unpredictable and the lecture material has nothing to do with the lab material;it just makes it more confusing.

Comment:
Dr. Lewis' lectures are absolutely useless. Your notes will not make any sense. He doesn't plan his lectures, and he doesn't care to clarify things even when the whole class doesn't understand a topic. Lastly, he provides minimal information about exam material. You will not feel prepared for the exams.

Comment:
Dr. Lewis is a terrible professor and I dreaded every lab. He is usually late, stops lecturing to go on his phone, or leaves us alone in the class so we can't ask questions while doing the labs. He over-explains everything and then in the end doesn't even answer your question. He talks too slow and tries too hard to be funny. Avoid him at all costs

just dont take him it will save you so much of a headache. NEVER tells when lab reports are due, is unclear and vague when it comes to lab exams and experiments in general. he tells us something that confuses us even more, so everyone does the experiment wrong. Have no idea what my grade is in lab. just take any other professor you can

Dr Lewis is great. O Chem is a hard subject, probably the hardest class I've taken, but he went to great lengths to help me understand the material. Outside of class, he offered 4 different meeting times per week, plus office hours, to help us all understand the material better. If you're a chem major, take a class with him before he retires.

Everyone describes Lewis in negative ways but I actually enjoyed him. He is extremely passionate about what he does, he gives you many opportunities to ask questions and he goes out of his way to help students. Yes, his class was the most challenging course I have taken, & yes you have to work very hard to get a decent grade but it's not impossible

I was intimidated by Lewis from all the horror stories coming in to O Chem II. I quickly found out though he may be hard, he is a good professor. The class is the hardest I have taken but he will work with you to succeed. Four hours a week he had tutorials where he would run through things as many times as you needed to understand. Favorite Prof.
