Comment:
Dr. Meier's presentations are heavily detailed and presented with broad strokes. You must attend class. You must read the text. Being lazy, meaning simply relying on the lecture, will not equal a passing grade. He is a true college professor. If you want a glorified high school like teacher, don't take his class.

beware of teacher of Dogmatic Atheism. The themes of Dogmatic Atheism are present in most of the "Social Science" curriculum and required text. In Particularly Christianity and especial the Catholic Church are protrayed as the "evil doers" through out history. Just one theme is that People are just animals, hence to respect for human life/morals.

Horrible teacher! It doesn't pay to ever come to class & listen to him babble on with his powerpoint for 50 mins b/c it won't be on the exam anyways. The midterm/final exam were all essay and if you didn't have exactly what he wanted kiss your grade goodbye. I'm retaking this class online, not any better except I don't have to see/listen to him!

Dr. Meier is an intelligent fellow in history, and likely has a lot to share, but good luck getting it because he's either not there in class so you're watching a movie or after 14 diet Cokes, he talks so fast, you can't get even the important half down. My Advice: Buy the books, skip the class, you'll save time, and learn more.

Dr. Meier is more like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. In Class he is interesting and I enjoy his personality and lectures. Yet when it comes time for the Quizzes, nothing we talked about in class is on them they are so hard even so they are open book I get 40 50 and 60% on them. In his defense he said this is the first time he used this method, stop.

Dr. Meiers is a very interesting teacher. I enjoyed this class and the SI that went with it. Yes, the tests were a challenge, but this is a Univeristy course and one needs to take responsibility for reading and learning the material. Excellent textbook.

Tests are an atrocity. If you can get one question wrong on a test and get a D, something's wrong there (yes it happened to me). Especially after studying for DAYS. Takes his class WAY too seriously for a gen. ed. class. 2 page essay questions and 7 page book reviews are rediculous. And somebody else already mentioned the laugh. STAY AWAY!

Unless you are a history buff that enjoys writing 2-page essays for each question for tests, stay clear of his classes if possible. He DOES help out and give you some options for test questions, but I had such a hard time with class. He will give you a chance at some points with regular quizes, so if you end up in his class, just put the time in.

Brilliant mind! He can be hard to follow at times, but I greatly enjoyed several of his lectures in several of his classes. He makes you think...and that is what he should be doing. Also, depending on the question, he is willing to help you to DEATH by help-overload!!

RUN from this class! He is a great teacher and very smart, but his tests are evil. Unless you like writing 2 pages per question (or 5-7 page book reviews) or if you can handle his lectures.. the laugh.. that is all i have to say...

He gives grades on how much you improve (first test C, second A, you can get A in class). For sure a brilliant mind in history but a bit too much into it!
