This was my first semester having Dr. Newton as a prof, and I am so glad I took his class. Grammar became 10 times more fun during his lectures, and I really feel like I learned a ton of information that will help me while getting my graduate degree. I would encourage everyone to take him.

Comment:

Dr. Newton is one of my all time favorite professors. He is super caring, very accessible and wants you to do well. He helped me to understand the importance of grammar and its relevance. Honesty, I can't think of any reason why he should not be taken. The only warning that I have is that he can be a little disorganized but other than hes the best

Dr. Newton is an awesome English teacher. If you want to be challenged and learn something Dr. Newton is the professor to take. Highly recommend you take him especially if you are an English major. The only warning I have is don't procrastinate with the assignments but other than that it is a wonderful class

Dr. Newton is wonderful. Very willing to meet individually and super friendly. He takes forever to return the grades on essays, but he's a very easy grader if you put forth effort, so it's worth the wait. He does like to give quizzes, but they are fairly easy and just plot based questions. If you read, you'll do fine. I would take him again!

I really, really enjoyed this professor. He was so engaging when he spoke, which I guess is a good quality to have when you are teaching American Speech. He's not easy, though. His class isn't a bird class, per se. He respects you, and expects equal amounts of respect. Tips: Take the help he offers if needed. He's willing to help a lot.

Comment:

Dr. Newton is freaking fantastic. He's is by far the best American speech/public speaking teacher ever!! He makes everything super easy and explains things repeatedly until understood. Definitely can relate to his students!! I loved giving speeches in his class! Definitely recommend him if you are taking American speech. He knows his stuff!

I took him during the Summer and we had a lot to do in a short time, but he is very helpful. If you have never diagramed sentences (like me) meet with him before test and he will help you out. He is very nice and approachable.

I love Dr. Newton! I took him for honors american lit and it was the only class i looked forward to. he's a funny teacher and really enthusiastic about what he does. he helps ALOT when it comes to papers. he grades fairly and most every day you have a quiz, unless the whole class begs him not to. then he wont :) Take him if you can!! He's amazing!

Dr. Newton is extremely smart and easygoing. I had him for Studies in English: Grammar. The class is all sentence diagramming, but he makes it as interesting as possible, and he'll give you all the help you need. There are almost no notes; most of the work is in the book. Know the material and practice a lot to get an A.

Really nice professor. Very organized, helpful and easy to understand. I took him for American Speech just because it was one of the last classes open and I actually enjoyed the class. Grades fair. 4 speeches & a few other simple assignments. Attendance is req'd. I would def. recommend him to anyone.

Comment:

Dr. Newton is a fun and energetic teacher. He does tend to play teacher's pet to a degree, but it doesn't affect him academically, only in personality. Not afraid to say he isn't sure about something. Good teacher overall.
