I only attended MCC for one semester, and Dave Shaw is what made it worthwhile. A great guy, taught the material well and at a reasonable pace, he was polite and friendly, and honestly just made music theory fun. Easily the best professor, and maybe even teacher, I've had so far at any school. Bless this man.

Amazing professor. Clearly loves what he does and cares about all his students. Makes class really interesting and he's pretty funny. Easy to learn from and homework only once a week. Definitely taking another class with him next semester.

Shaw is a fun guy. He's generally pretty good at getting the information across effectively. Music History is an easy A and Theory is also pretty easy but only cause he's good at teaching it.

I didn't know what to expect, needed it for my Batchelors degree. I was pleasantly surprised and he made me want to learn with the passion he brought to the table. Down to earth, loves teaching, funny, and definitely a course to take regardless of the prerequisite. Take this course with Dr. Shaw!!!!

It was so easy. It was my Easy A for the semester. You pretty much show up, listen to music. Every so often you get 3 tests but they are online and you can answer the questions as many times until you get 100

He makes Music 101 easy. If you show up to class and do the online tests you will get a good grade. The online tests allow you to keep answering questions until you get 100% on the assignment. If you do the quizzes and show up to class it is an Easy A. Don't buy the textbook you won't use it just pay for the online access code.

EASY for theory III Skip over half the classes, still aced the tests with ease-got a lower grade due to attendance. Took music theory I & II elsewhere-same text/workbook-Picked up where I left off. Had to work and apply myself so much harder to get the same grade in music theory I and II. III has endless musical possibilities--I was not challenged

Wonderful man and teacher. If you know nothing about music, he could teach you it to the point were you get an a. He's the reason along with professor nyerges I wanna teach music someday. Take advantage of the music department, it is extremely underrated and is growing.

next to Nyerges, Shaw is probably the best music teacher at this school. He's a great/hillarious guy. Always was availabale for extra help, great teaching methods, it really stuck. His only flaw is that he's got a really stressful life and it shows, which made me stressed out at time when i didn't really need to be.
