Wow this class was pretty challenging to me because I was not an english major, but she is a great teacher! be prepared to read and study because her tests are all essay and short answer! I learned a lot though!

Very easy if you come to class. Two tests and a final, and one paper due at end of semester. A few short in-class writing assignments pertaining to the readings, and a pop quiz if you show you didn't do the readings. So read!

Dr. Israel is a really nice woman. Overall her selections of the material tended to be boring, but I am not sure that was completely her fault. Her essay topics are often ridiculous, but easy. She does her best to challenge her students. She really knows her stuff in the end and really cares for her students.

Dr. Israel picks favorites and talks non stop about her genious daughter. She pics favorites and gives assigns the same grades throughout the semester. Don't buy the book for capstone, you will never use it. Leaves pointless comments when grading. Don't ask questions, she gets confused by them.

I've had her twice now. REALLY GREAT!! Very organized, good use of time, keeps things interesting in class. However, when teaching she assumes you have prior knowledge of the works/ details, so class is soo much more enjoyable when you read the assignments (surprise, surprise...). Will give pop quizzes if she suspects no one read. Essay exams.

She is a good professor; however, I struggled with enjoying the class. She is pretty easy but the entire class seems to bash White Americans, it's not all that offensive it just gets old.

I was so disappointed in my Ethnic American Literature class. The selections were boring overall, and the professor let students ramble during class time. Dr. Israel is not well informed about the different ethnic groups represented. I'm sure she's a nice person, but this course was just not what I expected. The final paper was almost bizarre.

I took this class as a senior and it was a total joke. It is definitely just a review of intro to literature and is not difficult at all. The stories and plays are fun and short so reading is not bad. I think the longest paper is like 5 or 6 pages and only one requires research.

Great professor, defintely do the journals because they are an easy grade (all or nothing) and the essays aren't that hard either. Just don't expect her to be as open-minded as most professors. Will tell you if she doesn't think something's right. Helpful.

Fan-freaking-tastic professor! Definately geared towards lit majors, but then, I was a lit major. Complex classes, requires quality writing.

If you are an Education major, do not take her for any literature courses. They are definitely more geared towards English majors and the reading analysis and writing are very complex if this kind of thing doesn't interest you. (I'm sure she's great for any English majors)
