Comment:

He scared me when the class started, he speaks in absolutes and makes his class sound un-passable. He's actually a really nice guy that wants everyone to do well, it takes a bit to figure that out. Has a habit of getting off on tangents but they're usually interesting topics.

I took Stats Modeling with Dr. Amin in Fall 2014 (online). He is an awesome professor. His thoroughness, attention to details, and willingness to help students are some of his great attributes. He provides ample amount of real life examples which is always very helpful.

BORING!! first of all its mandatory attendance, you basically have to teach yourself through the HAWK program b/c he is a horrible professor. HAWK is probably the worst program ever I would literally stay on for like hours. very time consuming. Test are nothing like the homework please take some one else

Comment:

Wasn't as tough as I thought it would be, but it's still a class that requires effort. The Hawkes system where all the homework is done can get confusing, especially at first, and has many difficult problems. The tests are ok though, as long as you study a little. Overall, Dr. Amin wasn't too bad.

Raid Amin is the worst teacher I have ever had. He says at the beginning of the semester attendance is mandatory, it's not (double check syllabus). His lectures are useless and he can't explain anything. Skip class and use the time to learn on Hawkes since that's who makes all his tests anyway. He is useless as an instructor

Do NOT take his class. Easily distracted. Talks about sharks too much. Didnt learn anything from his lectures, had to teach myself everything via the Hawkes software. His TA also was not very knowledgeable. Don't waste your tuition money!

I've taken Biostats and Quality Control with Dr. Amin I'm signed up for multivariate in the fall so that should tell you something. I was thrown into Biostats with no formal stats training and a 5 year break in college. I was nervous at first, because he does come off quite arrogant. But between lecture, hw, and easy grading, his class is great.

It's incredibly hard to fail this class. He lets you make your own formula sheet for each test, and the tests themselves have problems that are very similar to those on the homework assignments. You'll get half credit just for trying and showing your work. He's funny, albeit in an odd sort of way, and seems to know statistics inside and out.

He is definitely one of my favorite professors at UWF. Very helpful professor. Yes, It's true that it is difficult to learn the material during the lecture and is easiest through Hawkes. My advise - as long as you do the Hawkes homework and go to class and ask questions if needed - its an easy A. The material is not hard at all. Take him for stats!

The class is super easy. His accent is not the bad and he is a really nice guy. You truly have to try hard to fail his class. If you struggled in his class you're an awful student.... bottom line

Prof. Amin has a really heavy accent and talks fast. It was very hard to understand what he was saying and since the class was so big, it was hard to ask him to stop and give more examples. I would not recommend his class to anyone, especially if you aren't well versed in math.

Don't buy the book, use Hawks, i got a B plus and I didn't try all that hard i waited till the last minute for everything and i hate math. I took the class in the fall and he didn't take attendance at all, Hawkes will be your best friend/study guide in this class

I did not like the fact that he took attendance, so pretty much he expects you to be in class. I never learned much in the lecture, I had to go on hawks and try to figure it out on my own. I would recommend for you to take this class if you like to do the work on your own, I could not understand what he was taking about more than half the time.

Very reasonable. He understand that people are deathly afraid of stats so he really tries to work with his students. I took this course for the first time over the summer, and if you study everything and really try. you should get at least a B.
