This class was amazing. Considering the Game, there was a lot of writing to do, but it was fun. Dr. Vess is a great lecturer and you will learn a lot. If you get a chance to take an upper level with her, do it!

Interesting subject and very easy class. 3 tests, and gives you essay questions beforehand so you have time to prepare. Grades essays easily. Rough attendance policy though, you do have to go to class. Once you're there, though, you don't have to take notes, all notes are online. Always willing to help you out, I learned a lot in that class.

Vess is lively & loves her subject. Only used the Human Record book (not other 2, waste of money). 3 tests(last 1 was only essay), 1 large "World Trade" project, & 1 short paper. Test material on WebCT so don't bother w/notes (too bad attendance is manditory). Tests aren't too hard. Easy B - A if you work a little harder.

she is absolutely insane...you have to stay in class the whole time, but you don't have to know any of the lecture material for the test...you have to get all that on your own! there are lots of projects, which personally, i just don't have time for! if you wanna take fine and applied arts, try to take it with someone else!

Great teacher (helpful and nice), but not easy class. Tests are somewhat difficult. Given a study guide with terms and a list of essays that will be on the test. There is a detailed project that takes work and two long papers. Mainly uses PowerPoint and WebCT rather than books. If you do the work and read the materials than an A is achievable.

The woman's always happy and laughing about something. Tests were very fair, power point lectures drove me up a wall, notes are ALL online. Made an A on my research paper that I did at the last minute. :-D Great prof. who knows her stuff and has GREAT people skills.

Dr. Vess is one of the most exciting teachers I have ever had. Her passion for history shines through every time that she makes presentations and leads a discussion. Her font of knowledge is amazing and she truly cares for her students. I am very impressed and definitely will take her again.

Dr. Vess's classes are very difficult, but very fair. Some of Dr. Vess's classes were among my favorites in college. If you are looking to expand your brain, take her classes. If you are looking for a cake walk, you may want to look elsewhere.

She is an extreamly nice and helpful person, but she can be very tough. She changes methods each semester. We only had test and they were very detailed multipulchoice and a 5-para essay.
