This teacher was great. I mean, all you had to do was come to class and take notes. Reading the text helped but is not required to pass. He would give us the test before the test. Just memorize the answers and you're good. I enjoyed him a lot, a shame he retired. He probably wasn't the nicest teacher, but that's fine.

I had a hard time with this class, I found it difficult to comprehend. He spoke as if he was speaking with a collegue who had been a Psychologist for years, not for a 1010 class. He didn't explain very well and he spoke monotonously and never wrote anything on the board. It was difficult to take notes and the entire class grade is based on 3 tests.

I took this class the last semester it was offered, so its kind of pointless to write a review. anyway, way cool course and teacher, my only gripe is the required attendance.

Super easy teacher. He bases grades just off the tests, which are multiple choice, and gives you a study guide with all the questions a week before the test. He's a little spacy because he's getting old, but still lots of fun to listen to and he definitely knows his stuff.

Great teacher, love the way he set things up. I took Human Growth & Development from him. No midterm- Just an oral presentation & paper on any two topics relating to the course. Gives the questions to the multiple choice final in advance as a study guide. I enjoyed the lectures & he follows right along with the textbook. You'll learn a lot & enjoy!

As a psych major now at the U, I'm glad I took 1010 at SLCC from Dr. Hughes. It turns out that I'm more prepared for my advanced classes than anyone who took it at the "upper" level. If you're serious about psych, this is the guy. Top notch prof. Take good notes, because that is where you'll find the answers to the test questions.

Would not reccomend this professor for biopsychology. Gives out test questions before the exam but the answers he expects contradict what is true. He lectures way too fast so it is difficult to take good notes, and the lecture does not folow the text book so it is difficult to go through the text book with the key terms guide that he prvides. :(

Harry Hughes is an amazing professor. I did poorly in his class the 1st time but it was my fault, not his. Although his class content may be difficult to comprehend, he is great at explaining it and gives you all the tools you need to pass. And if you are going to call him ridiculous, at least spell it right. He is one of the best teachers at SLCC.

REDICULOUS! What a horrible professor! First and last time I didn't heed this web-sites warning. He doesn't care about his students! He doesn't make any adjustments to meet with you, his emails are demeaning and trite, he doesn't communicate well, and when you do finally talk to him he acts as though you are beneath him. SKIP HIS CLASS!

Harry is a perfect teacher for brain and behavior, he is VERY intelligent and actually really good at explaining such a complicated subject. He is very set in his ways and will not accept that any religious ideas can explain the brain, don't be offended just take it with a grain of salt. Questions throw him off track, ask when he's finished.

Brain and Behavior is filled with tons of information, so he requires and grades attendance so that you are there to receive everything you need to know. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable on all the topics discussed and explains the material very well. Tests are easy if you study, he gives you the questions on the study guide. Intolerant to questions.

He is great! He is into theater so he acts some of the situations out in class, which keeps it interesting. He gives you the questions straight from the tests, the only clause is you have to find the answers. Just attend class and you will be fine. I would recommend him to anyone.

Harry is a fantastic teacher. I am sad to see people giving him a low score based on his teaching of evolution. It would be going against what it means to be a professor to teach against evolution and its truly overwhelming amount of evidence. That aside, I highly recommend his class, on the sole basis of him being an excellent teacher.

Incredible! The people on here who like this class took his 1010.I agree with person who said he is opinionated and intolerant of creationism or intelligent design. He doesnt like that. God forbid you are not a psych major, he will argue with you/slight you if you ask/answer a question. I know 3 people who dropped this class, I wanted to so badly..
