Comment:
This instructor is fairly rude and annoyingly political. He assumes he's a good teacher by overloading students with assignments but in reality he just disengages students from the class. He does not explain things well and seems to enjoy being a judge more than a teacher.

I am glad I took Professor Rigby for this class. I wouldn't say it was an easy class (you have to work for your grade, definitely), but Professor Rigby's high-quality instruction and clear expectations helped increase my understanding of literary analysis and I feel my writing had improved by the end of the class as well.

Professor RIGBY goes far beyond the requirements of his job. He is always available for questions and meets with each student during the semester, whether in class or online. Gives clear instructions for each week's work and timelines are well defined. I have had him as a professor for two English classes and would definitely recommend.

I very much like Professor Rigby, he is a very intelligent man with a passion for teaching. Unfortunately though his class is tough! There is A LOT of reading to do, essays to write and weekly responses to weekly readings. There is also a novel you have to read while also doing your weekly readings along with you know four other classes.

I took the accelerated online class, a lot of work in a short period of time. A good number of papers. You have to work for your grade but he always gave good feedback in drafts and via video conference by request that made it clear what the assignments needed for a solid final draft. Expectations were high but attainable if you put in the work.

Instructions are unorganized and confusing. When you do submit an assignment, he takes weeks to return them to you. Emailing him doesn't help, his replies are short, simple, and confusing. Tough professor.

This professor is TERRIBLE. When you reach out to him for feedback or help he is very short and rude. Usually answers questions with another question instead of answering you. I did not learn any new writing techniques because all he did was point out the negative! VERY discouraging professor. Where is the support? The encouragement?

Comment:
Prof. Rigby is a very nice professor but I felt as though he expected way too much out of an entry level English class. Obviously there is lots of papers but the way he expects them to be written is ludicrous you would think you are writing for some fancy over the top textbook. lecturing and instructions were very unclear throughout semester

Information on assignments is confusing and clarity is not recognized. Discussions are due by date, but grading by teacher does not have time limit. Will not use this teacher again

For an beginning English class you would think that you were taking a professional writing class. This has been the worst experience I have ever had with a teacher. He is very unclear and I feel very one sided with opinions and will not see others point of view.

Assignments are vague and submission instructions are awkward at best. Submissions should be returned by the instructor within a week as per the "syllabus", but 10 weeks in I have yet to have an essay returned on time. He even managed to lose one of my submissions and threatened to drop me from the course.

I have not had a problem with him so far. He seems like quite an intertin and nice guy. His assinments are very open and lax, but also tend to be difficult, as he expects a ood deal frohis students, which, I guess, scares many people. Havin prior experience with harder college classes while in HS, this course has not been a problem.

He is a great teacher and if you can't keep up maybe you shouldn't take an online course. Very willing to help and relaxed about deadlines - don't try to take advantage of that.

For online classes, LCCC has a computer mainframe called DOUG RIGBY. It provides inpersonal, unclear, minial feedback programmed into its system by recognizing certain variables in your papers. It then spits out a grade based on the sum of all variables. GIGO.

Took College English I online. His class was tough to follow, but I think once you figure it out, you'll be fine. I would spend a good 3 hours though trying to navigate his course. I did fine overall. it's a freakin' composition course -- whatever!!!
