Comment:

Completed both COSC 2336 and COSC 1337 with Edwards as he is the only professor to teach them. Both courses might as well be self taught. Edwards seems disconnected from both his courses and current best practices in the industry. If you already know what you're doing then you should be fine, otherwise you will struggle with him.

Comment:

This professor really Do not respond to you. If you need help, (Which you WIll be because there's tons of HW to do), and you message him, He will read! but not respond to you! and He might respond back at you after the due dates. You will have to be super motivated to take his class. He will not motivate you, but you will have to figure all alone.

Even though I took this course on campus, the class felt like it was completely online. He does not teach you the material that you are tested over. You have to learn everything yourself through the online textbook. The independent projects are worth a lot of your grade, and they can be a bit tedious.

Comment:

Took two classes: cosc1301 (A), cosc1336 (B). Go to the lab and do assignments online. 25 points off each unex. absence, hence the B. Miss 4 and fail. He has powerpoints but doesn't add much. 1301 has online class you buy. It's really all you need. 1336 has a textbook with assignments, and that's all you need. Professor doesn't do much himself.

This was a tough class only because I was in the hospital a lot but if you do the work, he doesnt mind helping you and if you come to him in advanced to let him know you will be out, he is understanding IF you bring a doctors note stating that you were out WITH a doctors signature. If you just sit there and not care, you will have problems!

Lectures were down right boring and almost optional in this class. The professor is not understanding either as if you have to miss a class due to work or anything else he will still subtract chuncks of your grade for absenceses, and if you were to miss 5 or so days it's an automatic failure. Would not recommend.

I learned a lot in his class. Most of the material you learn while using your online resources but if you have a question he will gladly answer it. I would take one of his classes again.

Comment:

Be prepared to be treated like a child. Had to sit there in class for 2 and 1/2 hours and do assignments that DON'T COUNT FOR A GRADE AT ALL. Once you are finished you print them out and show him, then he will allow you to leave. If you go to the bathroom or leave for any reason and are gone for too long he will mark you absent.

Comment:

I took Prelude to Programming online and it was very textbook intensive. However, the lecture notes were good enough to get you through the homework assignments usually. The homework was all peer reviewed, the projects were scrutinized by the professor with a microscope. Mostly everything was just doing things by repetition though.

Take the class online, you follow the book step by step in class. There's nearly no reason for Prof Edwards to be there at all, and if you have to ask him to clarify something its like pulling teeth to get him to assist you. So, if you feel confidant in your ability to learn Microsoft office without help, go ahead! Plus there's a computer lab.

I will not take this teacher ever again. He was not clear with what he wanted done for the proposal and gets upset when I asked him about it. If you have to take Network + please pick a different teacher. Do not waste a semester with him. He is really firm about your grammar even though this is networking class he treats it as a composition class.

You use the Textbook in every class, you have to get a usb port which isnt expensive or anything. You use MYITlab, Blackboard and microsoft office. Each week you will do about 10 assignments. Its alot of work but easy.

This course was fairly easy. If you have a basic understanding on how to use Microsoft and a computer then you should do fine. There wasn't really any need to interact with the prof bc everything was done in MyIT lab. I got caught up in doing my other classes and still finshed this class in a week with an A. :))

This is a great professor. He cares about his students and responds quickly to email (online couses). Highly recommended.You also get out of this class what you put into it.
