Comment:

The lectures were really interesting and she has a lot of experience with women's health. The quizzes and exams are hard but they're multiple choice so there's not any partial credit. There wasn't a lot of work to do and I learned a lot.

Not only a bad professor, a bad human. I have never met a ruder and more disrespectful teacher. At first I was taking her critiques so personally, but then I found out she spoke that way to everyone. I wish I would have looked here before taking her. This isn't supposed to be a writing yet I've never been graded so harshly on papers. AVOID

Professor Kelly is awful. She send passive, rude emails and grades so close-mindedly. She says some personal and offensive things that make you question her stance as a womens/gender studies professor. Dont take her class

AVOID AT ALL COST! The class itself was very interesting, but Dr. Kelly made it miserable. Do not email her because she will make you feel stupid by giving you a sarcastic answer. The topics for the papers were not hard, but Dr. Kelly is so specific with what she wants. LSP200 is not supposed to be this time-consuming. Save yourself and avoid.

I am taking this class right now and I am scared if I will pass or not. This is my last class to graduate!!! She is the hardest grader ever! her papers are 25% each and total of 3 of them. she does not allow outside sources, want us to use her sources and stick to her material. If you do not have PDF in english.. you wont pass her class.

Dr. Kelly's online class is a nightmare. I enjoy all of the subjects she taught, but frankly I didn't enjoy her teaching them. Many other professors and educators I know could have and have done better explaining feminist history. And on top of making an interesting topic incredibly dull, she is MEAN and the harshest grader ever. DON'T TAKE!!!

I graduated from DePaul in 2003 and dearly miss this legendary luminary. Yes, her courses are challenging -- which means you get smarter, DUH! I felt like a fool my freshman year until Beth Kelly gave me my first and only A+ (which she mentioned was rare). Because of her, I continue to enjoy a professional writing career. Thank you, Beth!

Dr. Kelly is an amazing instructor and organizes her online classes very well. 5 response papers (4 pgs min, 2x spaced), but you can resubmit any paper if you are unhappy with your grade. This is college. You are going to have papers. You have to put in the work to get the grade you want. I will take any class she teaches in the future.

Assigns papers but you can only use her sources and must agree with her point of view. If you support a view against hers good luck proving it with her sources. She is scared to read opposing views and demands that you think like her or at least pretend to if you dont wanna fail. Super mean as well.

Beth Kelly was the only professor I have had problems with in my two years at DePaul. Her emails were incredibly rude and short, don't bother asking her questions. Her grading criteria is ridiculous for papers, the entire thing ends up being sources because she leaves no room to just analyze the topic. Save yourself the time and trouble!

While the papers are difficult to write, they are not difficult to get an A on. Follow the instructions and you'll get an A. I wrote all of my papers the night before and got a 100% on all of them simply by following the instructions. Anyone complaining just didn't want to do any work. And you can keep rewriting until you get an A.

I'm in the LSP200 online class right now it's not as bad as it sounds. Yes, there is a lot of work, but it's a 5 week class. Everyone in our class chooses to complain rather than do the work. She has been incredibly nice to me and I follow the MINIMUM requirements and haven't gotten anything lower than an A.

Definitely do not take her. I do appreciate that she gives us a chance to redo our papers but the requirements for them just to earn a C grade is ridiculous. I took the online class, and it was the worst mistake ever. She's also very rude with her feedback and makes you feel so stupid. Her "short essays" are 5-7 pages minimum.

Definitely one of the most challenging professors and not because the class material was hard but because she has insane expectations. She wants you to use so many sources even they don't relate to the topic you have to pull from other lectures that don't make sense just to meet the requirement. She is also incredibly rude in emails/feedback.

Don't let Dr. Kelly's type A personality scare you off, she is actually a very nice person. The work load is extremely reasonable, and people complaining about the papers clearly just struggle with writing This class requires a lot of writing, but if you can handle that you will be fine. Allows re-writes on all papers - a very generous policy! A+
