Comment:

Good professor. Often goes on tangents and ends up missing material, so if you like biology that's a problem. If you're doing it for the requirement you might like that since his stories are often pretty funny. No need to buy the text.

Dr. Loew is my favorite professor so far at Cornell. He is very interested in the topic he's teaching and tells some hilarious stories. Make sure you go to lecture! He goes through the slides very quickly and puts very few words on them. If you aren't in class you will have no idea what it was about. Go to office hours and ask questions.

Dr. Loew falls asleep when Silva is teaching, which is pretty hilarious. His lectures are interesting and worth attending. Pay attention and don't fall asleep!

Nice guy, but if you are not that interesting in comparative physiology or bio- this is not the class for you. He goes through slides too quickly so it is hard to follow sometimes. you NEED TO SHOW up to class because the book over explains. the tests are hard, but easier than they were in past years. lots of TF & multiple choice. record lectures!!

Best class I have taken at Cornell! Dr. Loew is brilliant as both an instructor and a scientist. I love how he infuses his engineering knowledge to make real, concrete sense of physiological processes. Dr. Loew is a great teacher and, more importantly, a great man. He has been a joy to learn from. And he is hysterical.

Great professor and a fantastic academic advisor! He's an all-around great person to talk to, about class work or anything else. His lectures are some of best I have attended at Cornell, and his understanding and relating of animal physiology to his students is crystal clear, informative, and thought-provoking.

Great professor! Lectures are interesting. Exams are hard, but you can argue for more points afterwards. Go to the review sessions!!! He tells you everything (and I mean everything) you need to know for the exam. Definately take this class if you are interested in physiology.

Comment:

Incredibly knowledgeable. Really willing to work with students. He wants you to argue for more points- wants to see effort more than the right answer. Lectures are heavy but I guess that's just the material. His review sessions cover EVERYTHING- total lifesavers. Definitely the most encouraging professor in the sciences.

Great class and even better professor.Insanely knowledgeable man, believe every word he says.Physics incorporation is great too.Extremely clear, well presented lectures, and his grading scheme rocks.This man knows how to teach, and loves it!Tests are hard, but talking to Loew helps your grade,and he's always willing to help you.

Very nice, always willing to help. However, is buffoon. Gave up on lecturing about 1/3rd way through semester. Tests are on random pieces of knowledge, play Jeopardy to prepare for exams.

Very funny, great attitude in lecture and informative. Makes things very clear if you have trouble. His choice in TA's though...not so good so if you have questions, ask him. Tough exams - hint - he likes beer, give him a nice present and he'll remember.
